Re: Is High School Baseball Numbers Declining?????

At Green we're up to 21 players on a team that lost 5 starters from last year. I've read down thru the different posted reasons for not playing baseball and have to at least assume that they are legit. Although the name has not officially changed, baseball is NOT America's game anymore. I don't know...

Re: Peebles vs. Green 2/17

Yeah, they are continuing to play hard. They have South Webster tonight, New Boston on Friday and then play South Webster again for 1st round on Monday. Be nice for them to get at least 1 W in the tourney. Have to wait and see though. #35 is Dustin Stapleton. He's a junior.

Re: Peebles vs. Green 2/17

Peebles Posters/Fans, As a Green alumnus, fan, and coach of a different sport there I just wanted to add some thoughts. I got to see you guys play for the 1st time last night and was thoroughly impressed--with individuals and the whole. I'm nobody, so I don't want to seem as if I'm attempting to be ...

Re: Who is going to win the SOC I in 2009?

I think 90's is that magical number that gets thrown out there when it's the fastest anyone has ever faced. It's assumed that he must be throwing that hard. It'd be great to have that kind of talent coming out of SOC I consistently. Can anybody think of the last player to come out of SOC I that coul...

Yeah, I like where your head's at Operator--especially in regard to D! I think I go at it like you discussed too. That way as you analyze your film it's relevant to what you actually do. I'm really excited for this matchup.

Re: Div. 4 Tourney Match-ups!

I agree with Sawdust in that the extra prep time could be nice; however, on the otherhand I think tourney time is more about rhythm and carrying momentum from 1 game to the next. I think if I'm a player I would want to ride that "MO" into the next game a couple days later and not have to w...

Re: Div. 4 Tourney Match-ups!

I didn't get a response when I commented on another thread, so I'll try again. Does anybody find it odd that there are 7-8 days between the 1st and 2nd round of the Sectionals. I may be completely mistaken, but I was thinking when I played, (mid 90's) that we played those 1st 2 games in the same wee...

Re: Division IV Sectionals at Lucasville Valley

Does anyone else find it odd that there are 7-8 days between the 1st and 2nd round of the Sectionals? Or am I just reading it wrong? I was thinking that a team would have to play both of those games inside the same week. Probably just remembering wrong? ("misremembering" as Roger Clemens w...

Re: Symmes Valley @ Green 2-7-9

What was the final score? I read where they lost by approx. 11 points, but am curious to the final considering 1 SV player had 42. Have a day young man!! I've not seen SV play so don't know anything about any of their players. Is Tibbs a perimeter or post player? Did he wear out a man to man, zone, ...

Re: Who has the best Sophmore Class in SOC1

I approached this thread as only looking at Sophomores. I agree that there is some fine talent behind this class. Of the six I mentioned I think there's a wide range of talent. This class has slashers, ball handlers, bruisers, scorers, and team glue guys. Regardless, come 2011 it'll be nice to have ...

Re: Who has the best Sophmore Class in SOC1

I think Green is in the running in this category. Poe, Ratcliff, and Pierce all have a huge upside and have seen large #'s of minutes this season (Poe, when healthy). Toss into this mix McCloud, Hughes, and Lewis and you have 6 quality players, all with considerable varisty time played. Good things ...

Re: Canons from the outfield?

SWbaseball fan, You must have had a hose!! That's a risky play. Tim Brumfield from Green stands out in my mind in recent memeory. Long lefty with great throwing mechanics--something I think is overlooked many times. I love to see the guys with great set-up, timing, and will roll the wrist behind the...

Re: SOC 1 and SOC II for 2009

Hoping to be a sleeper down here in Bobcat land in the SOC I. Lost 4 quality seniors last year and may not be getting some returning starters back this year for various reasons. Add to that not enough numbers for a JV team last year and that equals inexperience. Just hoping the kids bring some grit ...

Re: Green vs Minford

Yeah, this one got ugly in a hurry. If there is a positve (which I am trying to always find) the Cats lineup most of the game consisted of 4 sophomores. Good for the youngins' to get experience against a real quality team. Folks often talk about how the speed of the game increases from level to leve...

Re: MidWest Baseball Academy Clinic at Athens

Just a couple questions since I am not familiar with the clinic. Is there a particular hitting approach being taught, (i.e. Doyle method, Rotational, etc.) or is the design to promote and adjust respective swings? Also, what does the catching portion of the clinic focus upon?

Thanks!
