Re: Green at Notre Dame- Dec.19th
I was at the game too, and hated to see the Cats take it on the nose in the 4th. Around NCAA tourney time it's often debated as whether or not there is such a thing as a "good" or "valuable" loss. What do folks think about this? Could this be a loss that the Cats can build on? Co...

Re: Who is going to win the SOC I in 2009?
morrissette#18, Their field has improved drastically I think. Having played on it in mid 90's, coached on it in the late 90's and then returned there for the first time last year, I was shocked. Don't get me wrong, it's still a porch, with balls flying out of there left and right--but the playing su...

Re: Who is going to win the SOC I in 2009?
We at Green played them close both times too. Lost 3-0 to them at our place with Hatfield throwing. When we went to their place we were up 6-5 going into the bottom 1/2 of the 6th after some well played ball and a 30 minute rain delay in the 3rd. The clouds really opened up again, our pitcher couldn...

Re: Who is going to win the SOC I in 2009?
Should be a very competitve spring in the SOC I. I think that the championship still goes thru Symmes Valley though--with Hatfield and Powell returning to take the hump. Both of these guys can dominate games, and Coach Renfroe knows how to scratch enough runs to win. The season can't here quick enou...

Re: How do you attack the 5-5 defense
Very Interesting. I've never seen it ran, but if I'm understanding the description correctly it works with man to man principles. If so, I think I would try to spread it out, and then it becomes an issue of matchups--trying to get shifty backs/wr's on linebackers. At this point we're set up to run o...

6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon
Supposedly any actor/actress who has been in at least 2 major movies, can be linked back to Kevin Bacon within 6 steps. For example: Christopher Walken 1. Walken to Robert Dinero in Deer Hunter 2. Dinero to Jody Foster in Taxi Driver 3. Foster to Denzel Washington in Inside Man 4. Washington to Tom ...

Flash,
Did you watch live, or listen to it on the radio? Just curious to attitude and body language of the players?

Re: Green Special Bd. Meeting Monday
Wow! This situation is getting more and more dicey. Like you Jumper, I was thinking that it was starting to simmer down--not the case apparently. I can't say that I am in the know; therefore, I hadn't heard about the upcoming meeting. I have no idea what the next course of action could be. Sounds li...

Re: Most exciting High School game you have ever watched?
Have to set this 1 up a little...Lived and taught in North Carolina for 1 year. Anson County, which is about 45 minutes southeast of Charlotte. Rural county with some big time football. I got to help coach for that 1 season I was there. Talent like I had never seen before at the high school level. A...

Re: What is the Best Concert You've Attended?
Sweet pea, Was at the same Eagles concert in Cleveland. Best of my life. Considering the weather, there were some extra amps to the crowd's roar when Don sings "it may be raining" during Desperado. Lots of mud on the lawn and one of the jumbo screens blown down. Saw them on the CMA's last ...

I haven't heard how the meeting went. Hopefully it'll all blow over and the team and coach can get down to it. The season will be here before we know it.

Re: Green Bobcats
Hey BOBBY. If you're from the area, probably not too hard to guess. My handle isn't very disguising...HA! I agree with what you're saying. It's almost as if 1 group can't make any progress without another group hamstringing them. Board members have to keep "the public" happy since that's w...

Re: Green Bobcats
Can any of the Franklin Furnace natives pinpoint the time period when the parents of players began thinking they can dictate what goes on in the respective sports programs? Better yet, when did the board begin entertaining seemingly every complaint about coaches that have come up? I'm a former Bobca...

Re: SOC I All-Time Team
60ft 6,
My understanding on the OHSAA records is that is has to be sent in via the school's AD or the coach himself--which may be the case for Perry. Definitely a shame that accomplishments like .550 go unrecorded. Tons of h.s. players couldn't hit .550 in batting practice. This kid could rake!

Bucknut23,
Played against Paxton and Rutman, and will agree. Both had nice command from the mound. Couldn't necessarily blow it by you, but knew how to pitch and how to set batters up. Nice additions to the list.

Re: Fundamentals-- Offense and Defense
Offensive IMO I start with ball handling and passing. When done well, both of these will put a person on your team in position to score from a range that does not require great "scoring ability." Knowing when to take an extra dribble to create an angle, or knowing when not to put it on the...

Re: SOC I All-Time Team
I know I'm leaving tons of great players out, but these 10 came to mind pretty quickly. Pardon the Green heavy list...Just what I know best. No particular ranking... 1. Brian Roach (GHS) 2. Tim Brumfield (GHS) 3. Justin Myers (SVHS) 4. Chad Renfro (SVHS) 5. Keenan Perry (NB) 6. John Hunt (GHS) 7. An...

Re: who has the best feild in southern Ohio
I agree with White Oak. Played Sectional there and was amazed--especially considering the rains that had come the day before and day of. Learned from their coach that they had very few rainouts throughout a TYPICAL wet spring for our area. Plus, even as a visiting team, I love the fact that the uniq...
