Re: Eligibility

Need to PASS 5 CREDITS (or the equivalent). So you need to know how many classes they passed, how they are weighted, and how long they last. This is state wide. The GPA requirements are usually set by the individual school boards, there is no minimum GPA for the OHSAA.

Re: New Transfer Rules from OHSAA. Important for freshman class.

Actually that rule is more relaxed. Before last year it was ONE day in the school and you were considered enrolled. So those guys were locked in earlier than the rule now. They didn't have 4 days to figure out this school was wrong for them.

All rules apply to everyone as soon as they are voted on.

Re: New Transfer Rules from OHSAA. Important for freshman class.

I believe you have to have a change of legal residence outside the school district you are transfering from. Yes, if it is the first time you have gone to that private school. There is an exeption for kids who have attended a private school consistently for a number of years then went to public sch...

Re: New Transfer Rules from OHSAA. Important for freshman class.

You are basically correct. Athletic eligibility is established by a.)attending 5 days of school after completing 8th grade or b.)participating in a scrimmage or contest. Any change of school after that point is considered a transfer. If you transfer you are ineligible for sports for one calender yea...

Re: 2/27 Regional Semifinal: Circleville vs. Mifflin

THEY NEED TO CALL THOSE FOULS A LOT CLOSER AND CONTROL THESE GAMES A LOT BETTER THAN THEY DO TO KEEP THESE KIDS FROM RECEIVING INJURIES SUCH AS THIS ONE. OFFICIATING IN THE STATE OF OHIO NEEDS TO IMPROVE TO PREVENT FIGHTING AND INJURIES. THIS KIND OF PLAY CAN BE AVOIDED. I know officiating needs wo...

When families actually move the kids should not be penalized by sitting out a year. I absolutely agree with this. Cag, I have no problem with adults moving to better their life (otherwise most of us would still be in Europe) , but this forum is dedicated to athletics. 3% of high school senior athle...

There should be a strict ban, enforcement, and punishment for indirect or direct recruiting. Anyone should be allowed to go anywhere at the end of the school year. Make your program good enough that your players want to be there. The problem there is that you have to define "indirect recruitin...

I came out of the Columbus City League which has open enrollment through all of it's 16 high schools. What that district has become (first with bussing, then with OE) is a fractured community. You don't drive down a columbus street and see yard signs for "go warriors" in every yard because...

I guarantee 2 things

1.) They will attack on offense

2.) They will press on defense

They'll go for steals and easy turnovers. If you get rattled....you're done!

Without getting too controversial (throwing coaches or administration under the bus), what can the next AD do to improve things? Also what is involved in running the program the "right way" I would like to know, because I hope to work in athletic management some day. I would really like to...

I watched the first half of this game(first time seeing the girls). the first thing that struck me is that there is no size on this team, everyone was 5'6" it seemed. To win in Columbus you need to be either big or really fast I was really impressed with the defensive hustle, the offensive ball...

Would the transfers be allowed back if they aren't from Pike or Scioto Co? If you are referring to OHSAA rules, the only way to be sure you will be eligible transferring from one school to another AFTER starting 9th grade is to move into the new district. And even that is questionable if you look a...
