Re: Teaching a changeup..
We went through the same when teaching my daughter to throw a changeup. The circle change álmost seemed easier for her than the flip. I think it's more effective too. Good hitters see the flip in the arm and know it's the flip change. YouTube them and see what works best. We've added both to her pi...

Re: Question about Little league
I believe District 11 (Scioto Co) "Opening Day" is scheduled for April 11th.
That doesn't mean ever team will have game that day though.
As far as when games are played there's no real set days it all just depends on scheduling with most games having a 6PM start time.
Hope this helps.

Re: Coaching opportunities in Scioto Co ?
If you go to Portsmouth you better be prepared to start from the very bottom and have zero support from the school on the softball side of things. There's a reason why ALMOST every top player in Portsmouth doesn't stay in Portsmouth or becomes ND.

Re: New Boston/SOMC League Refs
So I have to take a side job as a ref on top of my current job and the other sports that I do coach just to have a say? That only works when you complain about volunteers. I've seen what these guys get paid for a day of being a ref. Asking them to do their job for the benefit and SAFETY of the kids ...

Re: New Boston/SOMC League Refs
By your logic if im unhappy with my Big Mac I should become a whopper flopper instead of expecting the one getting paid to do it to do a better job. Again I'd agree with you 100% if these were volunteers. But there not, these guys get paid. I know Steve ad the people running the league have a 100 ot...

Re: New Boston/SOMC League Refs
I agree with you for the most part. No, they aren't NBA refs and seem to be pretty good guys. Except for the one who decided to sit on the stage and ref the games a couple weeks ago lol. But we have to get away from this "Let them play" attitude. Do you call every touch a foul? Heck no. An...

Re: New Boston/SOMC League Refs
Might be a valid and cheap answer if this was your local Little League working with volunteer umps. These refs are paid by the league.
Nice try though

New Boston/SOMC League Refs
Im throwing this out there hoping maybe some of the officials troll this site and will see it before this weekend. This is an issue ive heard quite a few parents complaining about and doesn't seem to be getting addressed. I've coached enough and been involved enough with youth sports to know at a ce...

Re: Travel Ball vs. All-Stars
I coached a JR LG team this year. Burg wasn't the only one who had girls from other programs playing for them. So its not like they were pulling anything offhanded. They just had a REALLY good player playing for them from another program lol. I honestly didn't have a problem with the kids switching ...

Re: Travel Ball vs. All-Stars
Did Wheelersburg have players from outside Wheelersburg . Is that legal in Jr league They have players from all over. The District President allowed it because there Local LL didn't have enough players to make a Junior Lg team. So instead of having to go to the next closest LL with a Junior Lg they...

Re: Travel Ball vs. All-Stars
No, I don't believe that did happen? When and what age group River Rat? 60% rule will stay. I can't see anything changing, too many girls playing travel. To keep up, you have to. Junior League. Wheelersburg forfeited a game to Oak Hill in the District. They had girls playing travel ball and couldn'...

Re: Travel Ball vs. All-Stars
I have the unique perspective of seeing BOTH sides of this argument. I've coached a team that had ZERO travel ball players and I can promise you the first time they looked in the other teams dugout and saw a (insert any local travel team name) helmet, the game was over before it even began. Travel b...

Good drill?
Working some inexperienced pitchers and trying to correct some mechanical issues with drive & stride.
I know of a couple drills that help but what are some of your guys favorite ones, or most recommended ones?

Teams Looking For A Scrimmage?
I know its late in the season and a lot of the travel teams are tied up in tournaments. But im helping out with a program that the girls aren't ready to call it a summer yet. I was wondering if there's a demand from any of the travel teams looking for someone to scrimmage between games and tourneys ...

I believe the SR LG Boys are @ NewVille this year. No idea on the dates.
Last I heard also there was only 3 teams entered.
