Re: New Ironton vs. Logan series: Will this happen?

i've heard that the reason for leaving the league had nothing to do with football, it was all the other sports having to travel those distances on school night. I wish they'd have stayed in it as a football only member, as long as they have enough openings for local rivals ashland, wheelersburg etc.

Re: Who will survive Athens in Division 3 and head to Columbus?

And that Ironton team was 26 and 0 and 2 of those guys are sti...

Re: The Best Rivalry in Southern Ohio basketball

Ironton- Portsmouth still big. Chesapeak and Ironton has become fairly big in the last decade. For atmosphere, go across the river Ashland - Boyd County (when they are good) will play in front of 7000 , at least they have at Boyd County. first time I seen that gym I was amazed how big it is.

Re: What was the last school to have a 7 footer in SE ohio

ashland in late 70's had 2 or maybe 3 guys, listed as 6'10", i remember talk of them being nationaly ranked, but got blown out by Dunbar, and Ironton ended up beating them too, which at the time was big, they had beat Ironton something like 20 years in a row.

Re: Ironton vs Ashland

has Ashland's enrollment been going down like Ironton and Portsmouth in recent years? back in my day (mid 70's) they were a beast. I think when ironton beat them in '77 it was the first time in 17 years. And i think they had 3 guys who were 6'10 or bigger, although that might have been 78 or 79. The...

Re: SEOAL RECORDS--BOYS

We had two guys off ironton 78 team (keith harvey-bobby williams) BOTH high jumped 6'8 that year, not sure if either jump was in league meet tho. keith and I went to state meet(me in 100,220). In the years Ironton was not in the seoal, they have had a few state champions and guys who placed pretty h...

only watched gallia play a few times over the years. BUT, saw them play a Portsmouth team that was , unbeaten i think, in the early 80's disctrict? at Ironton. Phil King was a one man show and they nearly won because of him. Did he play in College?
