Re: S.O.C. II Player of the Year 2010
Another to throw in the mix would be Martin of Waverly.

Re: American legion state baseball tournament
IMO... Move it to Chilli and the VA. Rain would not be much of an issue and that place is an outstanding setting. Also with Unioto, Adena, Zane Trace and Ross County park nearby plenty of fields to play on that would match the quality in Athens. Also its more centralized as well. In sure that Chilli...

Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
The Pirates will be among the top in the SOC 2 this season. This team will be similar to last years squad since they only lost 3 full time starters. They will also be looking to fill the #2 and #3 pitching spots as well. Wright State bound Elliott will anchor the pitching staff but like last season ...

Re: S.O.C. II Player of the Year 2010
Well... typically this award has gone to a top pitcher in the league. If that is the case it will be Elliott from Wheelersburg.

Re: Southern Ohio Baseball programs
IMO Wheelersburg would have to up toward the top. 1 state championship in school history. Over the last 4 years: 4 straight conference championships (2 shared) 4 year Overall Record something like 113 wins 13 losses. 4 year Conference record of 53-3 (I think) 13-1, 14-0, 14-0, 12-2 4 sectional champ...

Re: SOC2 2010 Predictions and thoughts
IMO I believe the Top 3 should be Burg, Valley and Waverly in no particular order. This should be a Valley year having a very young team the last two seasons. Waverly lost a couple top players, but return a solid roster as well. For Burg, it will be hard for them to replace the 3 and 4 hole hitters ...

Ben Boggs (Bowman) formerly of W'Burg on ESPN last night
How many watched the Va-Tech vs Iowa game last night on ESPN? Tech defeated the Hawkeyes 70-64 in the Big 10/ACC challenge. Former W'Burg student and basketball player Ben Boggs (Bowman) saw significant time for the Hokies as a freshman. Nice to see him make it to a nice D1 program. I recall coachin...

This crap happens every year. Many that deserve to be recognized do not. Everyone has their opinion and here is mine. Quit giving individual awards. Many that receive them would not without 10 others on the field with them. Again... just my opinion.

so anyone wanna predict slone and hales numbers for the night i say 184 passing for slone and 120 for hale rushing comine for 6 tds Better be careful with stuff like this. Ridgewood did not beat a solid Minford team with out being pretty darn good. Probably will be the best team that the Oaks have ...

Re: D5 - Region 19: (#5) Wheelersburg at (#4) Monroe Central
Steely Dan, what kind of road is Rt 550 out of Athens over to Marietta? I noticed it's more of a straight shot over instead of Rt 50 which seems to dip way south and then come back up. Thanks. Haven't traveled 550 but IMO I would go RT50E to Belpre. Its roughly 2 hours anyway you go. I doubt that 5...

I suspect that the Pirate fans will fill the visitor side seating. However I think the home side would support both Burg and MC fans.

I doubt that Ridgewood is any faster then Minford or Wheelersburg for that matter.

Re: D5 - Region 19: (#5) Wheelersburg at (#4) Monroe Central
Another route would be
RT140 to Oak Hill
R onto RT279 torward Rio Grande/Gallipolis
R onto SR35 to Gallipolis
Then take OH7 N along the river to Marietta.
This is alot of 2 lane.
Either route it will take approx 2 hrs to Marietta and another 10 to get to stadium.

is the stadium located on the marietta campus? Stadium is located on pike street just across from Marietta campus. Very easy to find. Here are the directions I use. RT140 to Oak Hill RT93 to Jackson SR32E to Athens SR50E/SR32E to Belpre OH7 N to Marietta Take Virginia St exit Follow Virginia St thr...

Seating is good on home side. Visitors side is about like West I guess... Maybe a little bigger.

Nice turf field. Marietta College uses this field along with Marietta HS. Older stadium but newer turf and track.

Re: Wheelersburg (7-2) vs. Portsmouth West (6-3)
IMO, does not make sense to me that West would change their entire offensive scheme for one game. If thats the case, they must not have much confidence in moving the football with what they've been doing in the last 9 games.

Burg Grad and Yabba I expect too see your Pirates on the road week 11 against Fredricktown or Oak Hill....I think that the Pirates have hit full stride and will make some noise in the Playoffs. The way it stands right now don't be too suprised if we see a Falcon/Pirate rematch brewing for week #11....
