Re: State rankings----AP
To be more clear ... it will be the boys (or girls) in grades 9-11 for THIS year that will determine divisional assignments for the next TWO years.

RE: Pkb. South -- I'd have a hard time believing they're better than Wheeling Park. That group is LOADED.

Re: Ironton vs John Glenn 1/8/
I believe Jake has already signed with Findlay, BTW. They've also got a veteran coach who knows what he's doing. Should be a very good matchup.

Re: Ironton vs John Glenn 1/8/
Not sure JG really has a quality win yet. Cambridge is about it. Morgan, Meadowbrook, New Lex and Philo are not very good right now. Sheridan and Maysville are among the best in the MVL, and they did play both of them within one point (I think both of those losses were at home; certain of that for t...

Re: LOGANS NEW COACH?
Congrats to Logan getting the new field. It's about time. One of our third basemen about drowned in the coaches box while tracking a foul ball at the old field a couple years ago. One other time we were there with our JV squad, only half the outfield had been mowed. Apparently the baler broke down?

I actually heard a local broadcaster say "The Rosecrans" today. Not a homeboy, though, which probably explains it. Geez ...

Re: WEEk 9: SEOAL- Logan (2-6) @ Portsmouth (3-5)
It always stinks for seniors. We lost arguably our best player, Anthony Smith, to a fractured ankle about 3 days before our first game when he was rolled up on from behind. Fortunately for him, schools that had offered him told him they were going to honor those offers.

Re: Caldwell (7-1) vs. Zanesville Rosecrans (3-5)
I drain 3's ... Per the OHSAA designations (schools given names based on their mailing addresses), it is "Zanesville Rosecrans" or "Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans." There is also a "Zanesville Maysville" and "Zanesville West Muskingum," though neither of them are...

Agreed on that. It amazes me how much passion he still has for the game after all these years. And is still a student of the game, too.Great coach and a good family man.

I doubt we can finish that high. We'll just be happy to get in the top 8 somewhere and play in Week 11.

Re: Caldwell (7-1) vs. Zanesville Rosecrans (3-5)
The name of the school, officially, is Bishop Rosecrans High School. Bishop Rosecrans was a person. The school nickname is Bishops. There is no such thing as "The Rosecrans," though a late, great sports editor in Coshocton never got that straight over many, many years (RIP, Shep!).

Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Tri-Valley's problem (vis-a-vis Zanesville, as they apparently rank 8-9 per Joe Eitel) is that while both play teams with similar records in the next two weeks, Tri-Valley's opponents are Division III and Zanesville's are Division II. Tri-Valley's "advantage" is that it has some guaranteed...

Re: Week 8: Logan (2-5) AT Zanesville (6-1)
Jurgensmier's was certainly not a cramp. He was playing well, too. I don't remember when Cavinee got dinged up. The Logan trainer came to me at half and asked that I page his mother to come to the locker room, that they were going to take him to the hospital. I figured it was a concussion, though he...

Re: Piketon Redstreaks 2010-11
Indeed, Jimmy, philosophies differ. Ours is to get ready for the postseason, and if it costs you a higher seed to be prepared for it, so be it. To an extent, I find seeding to be somewhat overwrought -- I think for many people it's more about egos than anything else. Eventually, you have to prove yo...
