With Lorenzen its simply location, location, location. When he misses he misses big but when he throws a strike it catches too much of the plate.
MLB players have proven that even if you throw 98/99 if it catches too much of the plate it's getting hit and sometimes hit far.

Best thing for the bullpen is for the offense to score more runs. With the exception of a few games they very seldom score many runs leaving the bullpen no margin of error. The Reds have wasted a ton of great starting pitching by simply never getting a clutch hit to blow open a close game.
