Re: Wellston Hoops Classic?
Wellston is hosting the Big Blue classic. Last night, in the first semi-final Granville Christian defeated Ohio Valley Christian 56-36. Wellston defeated Hannan, WV 76-25 in the nightcap. Every Wellston player (15 players dressed for the game) got into the scoring column with Jaylen Prater leading t...

Re: indoor action this winter ?
ManitouDan, I will share with you what I share with my team parents. The Rio league will allow your daughter to get several at-bats against live pitching prior to the season's beginning. I have noticed that the student-athletes that go there do get a little jump in the spring from a hitting standpoi...

I am so sorry to hear about Steve's passing.
My thoughts go out to the Wilson family and friends of the family.
You will be in my prayers.

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
2old, I cherish those games with Portsmouth and Shad Williams, Tony Booker, Walt Mannon, and Mike White. In spite of the score at the end...I loved competing in those games. I really am close to the situation...but I am with those kids every day and I know that they want to play that game with Jacks...

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
It is interesting to read the comments here. First, if you asked any of the Wellston athletes if they felt like they did not belong on the field with Jackson, there would not be one athlete who would say they felt like they should not be playing the game with Jackson. The athletes on the field were ...

keyser (president of the JSFC): we wanted to set it up for tonight along with the boy's game. The weather does not look good for the game tomorrow night so we will be backed up another game in all probability. We have Athens and Nelsonville-York make-ups next week...we had to cancel Northwest and Va...

Congratulations to Coach Fife, his staff, and the Lady Marauders for their TVC Ohio championship.
They had some hard-fought close wins in the last week and deserve the crown!

Re: Fall Ball
It is a little bit of a drive, but Capitol University has a very nice fall league (Sunday games) .
I imagine you can get hold of the athletic department and find out the starting date.

Re: best back at wellston ever
Jeff was one of the finest student athletes I have been associated with. I will never forget how he always finished first in the pre-practice 20 laps around the practice field. I guess that he did not come to mind in this thread because Jeff really never was a running back. I remember Jeff playing Q...

Re: best back at wellston ever
If you asked Steve Jeffers or Johnny Bethel or Jim Pope or Dean Pittenger, they would have probably all concurred with you 2old. I thank goodness for a former Wellston coach named Jim Cure who did amazing things for our passing game with a challenged QB....lol Truthfully, these names in this whole t...

Re: best back at wellston ever
It is good to see mention of several of these great athletes. I wanted to add some names that have not been mentioned that were very talented ball players: Steve Jeffers played halfback and was a good runner, an excellent receiver, and an awesome defender. He went on to play for Bo Schembechler at M...

Re: Gallia selects 7th Hall of Fame class
Congratulations to a very good class of inductees!
I know they are all great individuals as well as very deserving Blue Devil alumni.
Jottings, thanks for the list...it was fun to peruse through the honored members of the Gallipolis community.
Well done, selection committee!

Re: All-Southeast District softball?
In response to Ilovessoftball: the southeast district chooses an underclass (meaning players that were Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors this past season) to play in a tournament at Pickerington Central HS the last week of June. Every coach who is a member of the district coaches' association gets no...

I read a report on another site....
Clay lost in 11 innings to Crestview 2-1.
Tough loss for Clay...but a good season nevertheless.

The Miller-South Gallia game was to have resumed tonight (Monday) and then the Green game against the winner of South Gallia...
