Re: Will River Valley play at home this year?
Right on the corner of my desk. I don't know if it does any good or not but we sure do enjoy it. We have a very good mechanic who says that you should always do the simple things first before you get yourself into trouble and extra work. GCLS should take a lesson from him.

Re: Will River Valley play at home this year?
I am sure that the coach would rather play in a mowed off pasture field than play 10 away. Good decision on the part of the coaching staff and administration, if it is true.

Re: Will River Valley play at home this year?
It is my understanding that RV will now be playing a full schedule of 5 home games at the old field in Cheshire. I pushed my "easy button" when I heard this news. I hope that it is correct.

Does that mean that they will have to play half-court?

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
A few of the players attend our Church and yesteray said that they had received the news that they would be playing all away games in the upcoming season. I do not know how they got that information but I fear it is true. As I have stated before, there is no more dedicated player than the ones from ...

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
It would be just like that idiotic system to allow that team to play 10 away. Everybody knows that they should play at the old RV until they construct their own field. This type of thing is why they are always in the shape they are in.

Re: Are consolidations the answer?
Let me start by saying that I an ABSOLUTELY NOT a fan of consolidation. I do however think that alot of districts will have it to do. State and local fiscal limitations will dictate the need for the multiplication of the effect of tax dollar spending, for example, one management team, all sorts of i...

Re: 1981 Eastern Eagles
I believe it would have been around 71-72. All I remember is that they left a trail of tacklers behind them alot of the time.

Re: 1981 Eastern Eagles
The team that I remember watching, as a boy, when Kyger Creek played Eastern, I think featured Dennis Eichinger and Alan Holter. If memory serves, they were almost unstoppable. I think that Holter was recruited and played a short time for Kentucky or some school in KY.

If you do not think it effects sports, come to River Valley or ask someone from one of the 4 former districts that make up the system.

Re: NEW ERA IN VINTON COUNTY FOOTBALL
Point Pleasant will be a tough one. I operate a business in Mason County and as such follow their sports programs. This year, they had well above average football and basketball seasons, played in the state championship in baseball and won the state championship in wrestling. When I was in school, P...

Re: Vinton County Football Coach
I know Coach Burleson although he is a few years younger than me. The Burleson's are a top-notch family in our community and certainly no strangers to hard work. I think that VC got themselves a good man. If, for some reason, it does not work out, it will not be from a lack of trying. I am also plea...

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
I am not defending past or present actions but if I wanted an explanation then I would contact her and ask for one.
BTW, Some combination of AEP and Midstate Construction constructed the River Valley baseball field and I think at their own expense.

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
Along the lines of wildthing's post, I too have had some doubts about Dr. Evans' reported attitude towards athletics. About 3 weeks ago I sent her an email, inquiring about her statements and positions that have been reported on this forum. She sent me a very lengthy and detailed response, the summa...

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
There are problems with the Bidwell field. It seems that when it was constructed, no one consulted with the DOT regarding the setbacks from State Route 160. The State of Ohio claims that at least some part of the field is on their right-of-way. I think that the baseball fields keep them from moving ...

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
If you have spent any time involved with the RV program, you know that these players are going out strictly for the joy and experience of playing the game. Do they want to lose, of couse not, but they are fully aware of the uphill struggle that they face each and every game. Some of the physical, le...

Re: What does Gallia Co. football need?
I am just sitting here going through the Dodge Reports (notifications of construction projects) and received an RFQ (request for quote) on new athletic facilities at both SG and RV. Apparently some bids have already been received and are under review. A possible selection date is projected in 30 day...
