Re: OVC River Valley (0-6) @ Fairland (4-2)
All that aside, the field and facilities at RV were at one time as good as or better than practically any around our area. You have to remember that it was constructed around 1957-58 and little expense was spared for the era. I always wondered why they did not build a fieldhouse. I honestly feel tha...

Re: OVC River Valley (0-6) @ Fairland (4-2)
Fuzz: Admittedly there is pollution at Cheshire but all joking aside would it be any worse than Coal Grove or the entire tri-state (Ohio, WV, KY) area? There always seems to be the smell of creosote in the air in that valley, particularly around Coal Grove and Ironton. If you can smell it, I would t...

Re: OVC River Valley (0-6) @ Fairland (4-2)
Cheshire pays for the whole mess so maybe they gave them naming rights.

Infield mix
This Springs sand run was successful, due mostly to the people on this forum. We are going to make a Fall run for a local customer who has requested material. The weather will give us a very small window of opportunity before we can no longer run infield mix this year. If anyone needs material for F...

Re: River Valley needs coach
I thought that I understood that the coach from last year would be there again. He was the best that they have had in my memory. If he is returning and can get the boys out, I think that he will see steady improvement.

Re: Shakeup in R 19? - Minford forfeits win vs. River Valley
I was on the chain gang when this happened. The Minford coach was putting in clean jerseys midway through the second quarter to keep from running up the score on RV worse than it was. I doubt seriously if there was one player on the sideline who did not hit the field. It was a mistake of omission ra...

Re: WK 6 (0-5) River Valley @ (0-5) South Point OVC
Carter had the honor of trying to coach in the SEOAL after the South Gallia students had left the school. He also was being picked apart by the recruiting efforts of the surrounding districts through open enrollment. As a rule his teams were strong, fast and the players had a great deal of respect f...

Re: Week 3 Rock Hill @ Oak Hill
Rock Hill's O-line had better be there or their young QB will spend Saturday in the whirlpool. As I stated in another post, Oak Hill's D-line was devastating and they only played 3 down. These 3 young men were head-knockers and kept it up (as they should) until they were taken out. It will be intere...

Re: East Richland Christian School to start 6-man football
My Dad played 6 man football.......Cheshire High School, Class of 1942. In fact, I think that with the possible exception of Gallia Acacemy, all of the local schools in Gallia County fielded 6 man teams at one time. My Dad always said that Bidwell was nearly unstoppable because of the Howard brother...

Re: Week 2 OAK HILL (1-0) @ RIVER VALLEY (0-1)
WOW! These 3 are going to cause some real problems in the next couple of years! I would really like to watch them against a different opponent. I understand that they play Minford in week 5, is that correct?

Re: Week 2 OAK HILL (1-0) @ RIVER VALLEY (0-1)
I will be interested to see Oak Hill play Minford. Oak Hill had 3 prize bull defensive down linemen and at least 2 of them were sophomores. #56 was stacked up like a college player and all three were absolutely punishing until the whistle blew. We tend to focus on linebackers but these 3 were someth...

Re: South Gallia @ River Valley Jamboree Aug. 15
We are certainly being careful about dancing around the root of the matter. This is the most important meeting either team will have all season and perhaps to date for the history of the schools. This "scrimmage" controls the bragging rights for the entire county system that both schools h...

Re: top five high school rivals
I know that neither exist any more but back in the day Kyger Creek and North Gallia would have to be added to the list. Often they played for the league championship and the games were always a battle. Ironic that RV, which was formed from these two football schools along with Southwestern, has stru...

Re: South Gallia 2009
Having been on the hiring end of coaches, etc, I can almost guarantee you that he was solicited and recruited, and then would he have applied, if at all. It is very emotional for employees, particularly coaches to leave their schools and the pot is often sweetened until they do. Money, additional au...

Re: RV and SG football stadium progress?
It is probably very important to get this under control prior to the opening and operation of the new buildings. Once the costs are revealed to operate the schools, we will likely never see a field comparible to our competition, if at all. Thousands would have been saved by incorporating the field i...

There is a write-up in the Point Pleasant Register , Saturday edition, that gives a summary of the results.

Re: The Portsmouth Daily Times has dropped its Monday edition.
I receive both papers and I personally think that the PP Register is the better of the two as far as local news goes. The sports pages are very similar and sometimes identical in both. I would have thought that PP would have done away with the Saturday edition and picked up the Sunday paper thus red...

The Gallipolis Daily Tribune and the Point Pleasant Register have done the same thing effective this past Monday.

Re: OVC '09
Assassin Although I am not one of the "powers that be", you are preaching to the choir when it comes to my position. When all else fails, our word has to be true. If they were promised, in open session, then it needs to be honored. Operations of these new buildings will be very expensive a...
