Re: Marietta vs. Parkersburg

pitt87 is right unfortunately, Marietta has not been a football town in a while. Opening week draws a good crowd, homecoming okay, and Warren, but many of those are Warren fans. I remember a couple of years ago in an early season game against South the home stands were almost half South fans. Other ...

MP21, did you have to go on a public message board to announce a players suspension to the whole region?

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

I think the coach in waiting is a good guy who would do a good job, but there are many examples of these succession plans that don't work. Remember, Marietta has a new interim superintendent, may or may not have a new superintendent next year, and board members up for election this fall. Football co...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Black and Orange, I don't disagree about their football program, but a private D3 college doesn't upgrade facilities to win, they do it to attract students.

Now their baseball program is a different story.

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Pios I should have mentioned that about the college. For those outside of Marietta, about ten years ago Marietta City Schools gave Don Drumm stadium to Marietta College. The district at that time could not afford to water the grass, much less make any improvements. The college has since put millions...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

I am impressed that there is a Marietta football thread that has 4 pages! Fact of the matter is that for a lot of years now Marietta football has not drawn interest from the students or the community. I have been amazed the last two years that when the band finished playing at halftime how few fans ...

Re: SEOAL Meet

The Jackson athlete's performance was phenominal. Not being all league doesn't diminsh that at all. We know that all league in football, basketball, soccer and other sports can sometimes be dependent upon things that the athlete can't control. In track and cross country it's determined by the athlet...

Re: Drug Testing

Marietta began this school year and yes it has had a couple of bumps. It is only for extracurriculars, as those are privileges. There has been at least one false positive, and like every small town nothing is completely confidential. I believe every athlete has to have a test at the beginning of the...

Re: Warren Local BOE considering pay to play

This is a great discussion with lots of insight. If we went to one county school district, with 6 high schools, one super, and one county school board, would the property taxes be the same for everyone? How do they figure this? And if say Warren or Marietta wanted to build new buildings would the en...

Re: 2010 SEOAL

Season opener at the Broughton Memorial had some great performances. P Adkins will be on a podium in Columbus later this year, and H Richards of Warren is healthy and fast. Warren boys are strong and deep. Results are on Baums, but Warren boys won by about 10 over Marietta, and Marietta girls by abo...

Re: SEOAL Predictions--Boys and Girls

It was great to have up to the minute electronic scoring so that the back and forth between the Chilly and Marietta girls made for an exciting event that had the whole stadium on the edge of their seats. I think Chilly had an 8 point lead until the 3200, the next to last event. It was like that all ...

Re: Warren Local Hires Andy Schob as Head FB Coach

Absolutely hate to lose him, but wish him the very best, Andy is a very good coach, of which there are many in the area. More importantly, he is one of the finest individuals a young person could have as a mentor. It's hard to describe it effectively but the Warrior faithful will understand after sp...

Re: Marietta and Rosecrans admitted to ECOL today

And its not just the bus rides, it's gates as well. You'll see more Marietta fans make the drive to Dover, New Philly, and Zanesville via I 70 and 77 than to Portsmouth and Chilly, and vice versa. The SEOAL is a great league but high school sports are a business of its own these days, and this is a ...

Re: Ironton 46 VS MARIETTA 72 - DOC - FINAL

Lots of respect for Ironton. They made the three hour trip with lots of reserves due to a flu epidemic at school to fulfill their end of the deal. It would have been easy to back out and we would have understood, but they stood up and made the best of the situation. A real class act and a great exam...

How far can they go in the tourney, and which Marietta team shows up?

The one that beat ZVille and Chilly and led Waterford in the 4th, or the one that lost at Ironton and Logan? They are talented, but oh so unpredictable.

Re: Waterford @ Marietta 1/26

Officiating had nothing to do with it.

Great, close game for three quarters until Waterford just turned it on. They are an extremely well coached and prepared team with great players. They were the best team and they will go a long way in the post season.
