keyser,
I can't let it go because of people like you and the comments you make. It sounds like you're in the 99% who haven't coached but claim to know all about the game and/or game situations. Just something to think about.

Re: Waverly 26 Wellston 21
keyser, Yes, I was at the game. If I wasn't there, I wouldn't be talking about it. So, every time a team runs the ball to run out the clock it is DUMB? You have your opinion and I have mine. But, I guess since you write about sports you know all. I would love to let this go, but it just amazes me ho...

Re: Waverly 26 Wellston 21
I know Malone was still in the game and I'm not denying that he was injured. However, I feel that if he was injured badly enough, then the coaching staff and/or trainer would've had him out of the game. I would rather have a seasoned veteran, as Malone is, at 75%-80% holding onto the football than b...

Re: Waverly 26 Wellston 21
Teams hand the ball off ALL THE TIME to run the clock out. I think that guy was still going to hit someone even if Roback would've taken a knee. If that blitz would've been picked up and Malone would've just been tackled, then no one would be saying anything. It just so happened that he got hit hard...

Re: Waverly 26 Wellston 21
tigers2010, Relax, bud, I'm from Waverly. The Tigers won and I think they were on the short end. The officiating was bad for everyone. Giving the ball to Kevin Malone was running the clock out. Waverly had to run a play so they didn't get a delay of game penalty. This wouldn't be an issue if someone...

Derek Roback - QB Waverly
He's a pure athlete. He has speed and size. Roback has been offered by Marshall, Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Toledo, and OU, according to rivals.com.

D-5,
My post was intended to show how out of hand this thread was getting. I didn't mean to drag it out. And I agree, it's always good to watch Waverly and Wheelersburg go at it. Even though the outcomes may be lopsided at times, it's always intense.

Re: Wheelersburg vs Waverly 5-26-09 SOC2 Title game
There used to be a time when a coach could get on a kid and not have to worry about his parents stepping in. That was part of playing the game. Those days are gone. Trooper, you are correct that some coaches do worry about what parents or players think, but I can guarantee that Nobby is not one of ...

#2 vs. #4 on the mound. Out runners called safe. Dropped pop-ups ruled as outs. It's starting too get a little deep in here. This is almost getting as bad as the Waverly/Wheelersburg football topic a few years ago about one of the teams wearing illegal cleats in the mud. Something about the spikes w...

These types of post are exactly what I like about H.S. Baseball. Nobody blaming anyone or making excuses. Two teams battling for the W only for one to come up short. I am sure there were some bad calls but each team overcame them. I am not a fan of Burg or Waverly but I respect them, and I respect ...

Re: Derek Roback Offers
I think it is amazing how some college scouts can see things in players. I played against a guy in high school who ended up at a D1 school. In high school, he was good player, but there was NO WAY I saw him as a D1 player. Somone saw something in him though, and he turned out to be a solid player a...
