Re: dime-a-dozen's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio - 1-7-

I was reading along and saw Pfloyd's Elite 8 and thought, YES, he is back. BUT alas it was someone pretending to be Pfloyd. I know him quite well and this has been his way of sharing his knowledge for a long time. IT should remain attached to him and him alone. IF dime wants to write a listing, then...

Re: How is Pfloyd?

Pfloyd is hanging in there. It has been a rough road with the treatment that he is receiving. It has wiped him out physically and mentally. He has roughly 5 more treatments left. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts. He appreciates all the good wishes and support he has received.

Re: The press and girls basketball

Basketball sure has changed. The high school program that I grew up playing in, had NO summer program. If we went to a camp it was on our own at our own expense. ( I did go). Anyway, we still had one of the best teams to come through the 4 years that I was blessed with the chance to play. In fact th...

Re: The press and girls basketball

It also helps if the receivers move toward the ball (pass). Too many times I watch young women, stand in place waiting for that pass to "get" to them and in the process it is stolen. Can't stand around in hoops, need to keep moving. Get the ball inbound quickly so that the defense doesn't ...

Re: Varsity Coaches

lovevball8: I agree with you. I have 3 grown daughters of my own and I tell them and told them that they can do anything they want. They have to want more, and be taught that hard work and determination can get them where they want to go. I am a transplant from Kansas, so I really feel that we need ...

Re: Varsity Coaches

Didn't know I was hurting anyone. Just curious is all. Where I come from it is predominately male coaches also. Just wondered how it plays out here. Still a sad statement. Should be more women involved with the female sports, especially if there are some willing to get involved. AND no Nagol1 I am N...

Re: Varsity Coaches

Nagol1 "Gender of applicant does not matter either." Are you really trying to say that they would hire a female to coach a male basketball team? Highly unlikely! But it would be a nice thought.

Re: Varsity Coaches

As far as any coaches being hired or not, the head coaches (at least in Logan) have a large say as to "who" is coaching at the different levels. Then it moves to the board for the final say so. Not sure how the process is done in other places. I can only speak from experience, I applied fo...

Re: Varsity Coaches

gahs4ever, thank you for your insight and I have indeed looked into other sports. I know for a fact that there are fewer female head coaches in track and field also. Again, issues with those wanting to coach the sport and those that have the time committment to coach a sport. It is tough getting wom...

Re: Varsity Coaches

It IS interesting finding out about how the programs are ran in southeastern ohio. I have always been curious as to how many female coaches are involved in many locations. I'm sure that part of it is due to the lack of women who are willing to coach, which is sad within itself. I'm sure a lot of tha...

Re: Varsity Coaches

I do appreciate the information. I may ask this question again once everyone is back in school and gearing up for the season. I know that there are a lot of good coaches out there both male and female. Just seems that there are definitely more male coaches coaching these female teams. Would be nice ...

Re: Varsity Coaches

Why not? It's just a question about the programs. Obviously there aren't "many" women as head coaches
of male programs. Just wondering.

2005! Great team of young women that year! They wanted that championship and bad! Watched them dig deep and work hard that entire season to gain that trophy!

The exchange student will be competing in outdoor track and field this spring. She has said that she
loves to run. They can use her for distance running. What a great addition.

Re: Lady Chiefs

The Lady Chiefs have a great collection of young ladies. IMO, they seem to be struggling with being consistent out on the court. They will have a strong game where everything goes right and they play well and then turn around and it all falls apart. Why this happens I am not sure. Lots of factors ca...
