Question about Waverly JV/Varsity

Why doesn't Waverly dress the JV team for the varsity? Just a question. It seems like they would have opportunities to let the JV play in varsity games that get way out of hand and have much needed subs should something terrible happen. Any info on this?

Re: Browns' Stallworth gets 30 days for manslaughter

Interesting side note: Former First Lady Laura Bush ran a stop sign and killed one of her friends. She got nothing and her BAC was not tested. What is interesting to me is that Stallworth, while intoxicated, could have potentially had the same thing happen to him that did. We really aren't sure how ...

Re: Would SOC allow Portsmouth and Ironton......???

Can I ask everyone why these projections have Northwest competing against the smaller schools? Northwest is one of the biggest schools in the SOC. It makes since if you are arranging the schools by level of competition, but I don't think it's fair to do that to a team. Not trying to argue your set u...

Re: Minford vs. Worthington Christian, Nov. 2

Nohustle brings up an incredibly important point. I knew that Minford was the best conditioned team in the area, but is Minford the best conditioned team in the region? Just maybe. I'm not sure of WC's conditioning program (though I can almost guarantee it is top notch). Nonetheless, Berlin Hiland i...

Re: Oct. 15-Minford vs. Alexander

Weeze...I remember that game as well. I think that year's Alexander team benefited from a more difficult schedule, as well as a very poor seeding and the fact that Minford did not have a true scorer. As well, I think that Alexander team was a better team than the Minford team, they just got a very p...

Re: Waverly vs. Minford, Oct. 2

Minford gave up goals to Waverly on long runs through the defense. If Minford packs the defense in like they did in the second half against Waverly (either 1 or 0 goals given up, i don't remember) I think they pull a way with a tight win. But, if Minford lets Blanford run through the middle untouche...

Lets get back on top gents. This will be a great game, and hopefully the Falcons can pull out the win. And please, no more all caps!

Re: Waverly vs. Minford, Oct. 2

I would wait until a little closer to this game to see what happens...both teams still have a good amount of SOC games left, so if neither loses by then, we'll talk about a potential 3 way tie.

Congrats to Evan Price for tying the Minford record for field goals in a game (2).

Re: WAVERLY @ THE BURG

No...just for Wheelersburg. Waverly has to lose 3 games before they would not lose a shot at the SOC title.

If Wheelersburg loses, they are all but out of the running for the SOC II.

Re: 9/4 Minford vs. Waverly

Yes it was a very clean game. As a Minford supporter, I would question the PK call given to Waverly, but I can definitely see it going either way (he was surrounded by 2 players and everyone fell). However, the Minford goal that was called back seemed like a bad call in my opinion. If the player did...

Re: SOC Scores and standings

PCOHIO...I have a bit of a review of the Minford/Burg Game. From my perspective (slightly bias toward Minford, but only slightly;) Minford controlled possession about 60/40. Minford had many good looks in the first half as well as second, but couldn't finish. That will have to come together. The Min...

Re: Eastern-Pike to start soccer for 2008

Eastern has had a Jr. High program for a number of years now. They have done things the right way, and should really see soccer pick up in the next few years.

Re: Great Games

Minford v. Waverly in 2003 or 2004...Waverly wins 9-7 very exciting game.

Also, Minford v. Valley in the 2005 sectional semi finals. Valley went up one, then Minford scored with like 10 seconds left to send the game into overtime. Minford finally got the win in the second overtime period.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Actually, that rule does not exist at Minford. When I was in high school (after Parkes' son graduated) I ran cross country and played soccer one year and kicked football and played soccer another year.

Re: Eastern-Pike to start soccer for 2008

pcohio, do you know if they still have the potential coach they did a few years ago when they were planning on starting a soccer team? I remember him being very involved with soccer at the Waverly YMCA and thinking that he would be a great choice for head coach.

Does anyone know if Eastern or Oak Hill will be fielding teams this year? I know Eastern has been trying to for a few years now and I heard mention of Oak Hill playing this year. Any information?

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Being "one-footed" isn't a hindrance in the SOC. Burg's all-time leading goal scorer Bryan Craft was almost exclusively left footed which helped quite a bit due to the strange nature of it.

Very rarely to teams play players to one foot in the SOC.

wow sounds good ....... not really Come on guys, you can't rag on someone for making silly predictions if you're going to make silly posts like this. If someone replied with "Psh" or a bad joke from the 90s to one of your posts then all of the Burg kids would come out in full force. Just ...
