Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Kyle Newsome will return as a 4 year starter. As well, the keeper (not sure of his name) will be back. Both Huff brothers should have great years with the younger Huff stepping up quite a bit in the midfield (at least that is where he should be playing). Justin Aeh returns also with a ton of experie...

Re: Middle School or U14 Girls Teams
Minford generally has girls teams at the U14 level I believe. You might want to contact Dave Munion to find out more.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
You got it NDC... Noose. I haven't seen Lewis play since he was in high school, but I do remember playing with him at a camp I helped work during the spring a few years ago. He was quite good for as young as he was, but I don't remember him being anything special. However, that was like 4 years ago....

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
You are completely right. Waverly had quit using the boomball style while Purpero was in school, and Minford had stopped relying on it while Price was at the helm. I think Burg's success last year was partly due to their regression from the boomball formula. Wes Lyons was a lot of why they stayed aw...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
It's incredibly difficult for a team from rural southern ohio to make the state soccer tournament. Competing with Cincinnati teams and private schools always hurts them. Also, the lack of club and competitive winter opportunities hurts players. I believe that Valley is the only team from Scioto Coun...

Burgboy,
Coach Boll is the second longest active coach in the state of Ohio. Not many more coaches have coached longer than that.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Burgboy, you said Boll hasn't coached as long as some people in the state...WHAT???? Coach Boll has been coaching Burg since the beginning of their team in 1986. That seems like a long time to me. As well, the OHSAA lists him as having 300 wins by 2006, quite impressive. What you may be referring to...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
I completely agree that Coach Boll is the best coach in the SOC. I do believe that there is another great SOC coach not coaching at the moment who rivals Boll. Its sad to me that Mark Price isn't coaching at Minford.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
I would doubt that open field has started yet. The snow just melted
Open fields will probably start toward the beginning of May. I know that Coach Boll at Wheelersburg is quite involved in the track program so I'm sure he'll be waiting a bit.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Please, please, please edit the end of that last comment. That is incredibly offensive. Lets keep the talk on the SOC.
I haven't heard a lot about the SOC 1. I'm much more familiar with 2, does anyone have any information?

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
I can't imagine that Evan's dad and brother have let him not play soccer. I'm not sure if he played club soccer, but I heard he was planning to. Evan's got a lot of natural skill, but you definitely do have to keep working on things to keep it up.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
My pick for player of the year would have to go to Evan Price. His help last year could have easily helped Minford win an SOC and District Championship. Freshman of the year will come from Waverly

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
Waverly may be young but they've got just as much experience as most kids playing in the league right now. These kids have been playing club ball and indoor for years. I know many of the players on other SOC teams have been playing for club teams and indoor soccer, but these Waverly kids have done a...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year
I don't think it's such a given for Burg to be the SOC champs. It'll be a tight race between Burg, Waverly, and Minford. Whoever has the most new players step up will be the SOC champion. Personally I think it will be Waverly, but I'd love to see Minford win the league.
