Re: Soc Predictions for next year

It is difficult for any freshman class to carry the team and I'm not saying they will. I completely agree with PCohio. I have followed this class for a bit and know that this class has more soccer experience, and maybe even have played at a higher level, than many seniors in the SOC right now. They'...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

PCOhio, As we discussed earlier, I think the current 8th graders and future freshman could play a huge role for the Tigers. The freshman that graduated in 2006 (2 or 3 time SOC champs) had huge freshman years. Purpero and Holmes were very successful their first year at Waverly. I would have loved to...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

In Div II Will Barlow from Waverly was 3rd team all state.

In Div III Wes Lyons from Burg was 1st team all state. Aaron White was 3rd team all state.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

I'm not going to bash you, but I will respectfully disagree. I think last year showed truly how good Wes was. I remember watching him play with Drew Sampson and wondering if Drew was making Wes better. Last season Wes established himself as a player who makes everyone around him better. Maybe that's...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Does anyone know the last time Minford beat Burg? I have no idea. It has been at least 5 years. In 2002, when Minford won the SOC II outright, the Falcons lost to Burg once and tied them once. They haven't beaten them since then and I'm not sure when they beat them last before that. Anyone know?

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Minford did graduate a good amount of seniors, but they have a ton of talent coming back. Jake Hackworth should provide a lot of help if he stays healthy this year. As well, Justin Aeh will be healthy starting the year. I would have loved to see him play against the Burg the first game of last year....

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

The loss of Wes Lyon will be very very tough to overcome. As well, Wheelersburg did not have a very good JV team last year. Nonetheless, I remember reading a post before the last season claiming that the team was the least talented team that Boll had coached...and what happened? Burg won the SOC. Bo...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Sorry, next year's freshman class. So that would make them 8th graders currently.

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

PC, I hope some of these boys do get varsity experience. I've got a cousin who plays for that class. I'm not sure if it is like this with all of Waverly's youth, but a bunch of these kids have been playing club ball and playing in tournaments for like 4 or 5 years. They've got tons of experience des...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Don't underestimate Waverly's Freshman class. They have the potential to be one of the best classes in recent SOC history. My top graduating classes in the last 10 years of SOC II would definitely have to be Waverly '06 and Minford '03. Webster of '06 was one of the best SOC I classes during that ti...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

hitman, I was told that Evan was playing next year from some people very close to him, but he may have changed his mind since then. Cody Warren played center mid in both 'Burg games, though one was the first game of the year. Huff, Linkous, and Newsome got a lot of time in the back line this year wi...

Re: Soc Predictions for next year

Minford should have a great year next year. The defense wasn't hit nearly as hard as people think, with a firm back 4 (or whatever formation the Falcons run next year). Cody Warren could definitely be a great scorer, he just has to have a short memory. If he can forget about little mistakes and keep...

The Rio Capitols were in operation at least two years ago (formerly the Chillicothe Hooligans), but I'm not sure if they are still functioning.

I would disagree. Minford should have been a much bigger contender in the league this year than they were. There were conditioned but there soccer knowledge was lower than it has been in quite a while.

so what will this do to the makeup of the SOC? Currently it is: SOC 1: S. Webster New Boston Clay Valley SOC2: Minford 'Burg Northwest West Waverly Well, seeing it on paper makes it obvious that all that will happen is the addition of Oak Hill to SOC I. Also, I believe Eastern Pike will have a high ...

Smoke, I hope you're not talking about my post...its full of nothing but praise. Any young team will have difficulty playing and winning. One year a team I played for only lost 3 games, then the next year we only won 3 games. High school soccer is a continual rollercoaster of ups and downs, well if ...
