Re: Scioto Valley Conference 09

Just curious, how many coaching changes and what schools are anticipating new coaches for the 2009 campaign? I know of Huntington, What about others like Southeastern & Unioto?

Re: Shane Wolford resigns as Jackson head coach

I know things have happend quickly and lots of anticipation, but I wonder if there is any timelines being discussed. The football team should begin a regular lifting program after Christmas Break. Does Jackson have any assistants that will take on the responsibility or a person to run that operation...

Re: THE WILDEST PLAYCALL YOU HAVE SEEN A HS COACH MAKE?

The center sneak? The center would snap the ball as normal, but would not give it to the Qb. The qb & backs ran option to wide side of the field, center stayed in crouch position with ball tucked away. As defenders pursued the play, backside guard led center down the field. When returned to hudd...

Re: THE WILDEST PLAYCALL YOU HAVE SEEN A HS COACH MAKE?

How about the old Center Sneak! I was coaching when this play was called against Meigs. The play went for about 35 yds for a touchdown. We ended up winning by a field goal. Looks similar to the fumble roosky, but we would actually change the center and the guard, to keep the ball from having to be l...

Re: THE WILDEST PLAYCALL YOU HAVE SEEN A HS COACH MAKE?

We ran a play when I coached at Wellston. We were playing at Vinton County. We broke the huddle. The coach calls for trip receivers wide to Vinton's side line, tight end to our side single back. Qb goes to line behind center, but don't go under. He started the cadence, got everyone set, then he trot...

Re: Round 2 Chillicothe vs. Logan Elm at Teays Valley

gymratt, have you ever played or coached a game of football? As a coach, you have an obligation to put your players in the best possible situation to win the game or make a call that allows your players to experience success. If that is what coach Bart felt was best for his players at the time and h...

Re: Alexander(25-1) vs. Adena(25-1) Regional Final

Best of luck to the lady Warriors! Go play your best and work together as a team and things will work out in the end. I hope to see a great match, with extremely close games. Doesn't matter if 3, 4, or 5 games, as long as they are close. Let Alexander know you are there to battle.

Re: Week 9: Logan (8-0, 4-0) AT Jackson (5-3, 2-3)

I see Logan being very good, but every dog has its day and this could be the element that cause some chieftain fans a real scare. I don't believe Jackson will upset Logan, but if Logan lets them hang around until late it could get interesting. WEEK #10 could be the week the great team gets bitten. I...

Re: Week 9: Logan (8-0, 4-0) AT Jackson (5-3, 2-3)

Ironman02, I want to see the ironmen play hard and leave it on the field. A team like that will have support, win or lose. Since you asked, as far as QB for the ironmen, I believe the offense runs best and is most consistant with Brown at the helm. He is very smart, dedicated, leads by example, can ...

Re: Week 9: Logan (8-0, 4-0) AT Jackson (5-3, 2-3)

Ironman02, I hope the ironman can perform respectfully in the last 2 games. Understand, when I say this, I mean simply play hard. Friday nights EFFORT was poor as a team. I saw some individuals playing hard, but the team as a whole needs to play hard. Those individuals that choose not to play the ga...

Re: WK 8 Chillicothe @ Jackson

I will be supportive of the Ironmen the whole way. Without Huff, our weaknesses on defense become greatly exposed. His leadership, mental toughness, and ability cannot be replaced on this team. We don't have the depth of the ironmen defenses of the past. He is one of what I would view as 6 solid def...

Re: WK 8 Chillicothe @ Jackson

Though I will be supporting the red and white, I hop[e to see COACH "D" team play well. I know he was always able to inspire myself and teammates to be ready to play hard on game nights. Much respect for him as a coach, though he was an assistant and my position coach in football. He also ...

Re: WK 7 Jackson (5-1, 2-1) @ Ironton (3-3, 1-2)

I will go with Jackson again this week, but like I said last week "Only if we give the correct QB the majority of the snaps." We saw the ability of our offense to control the football when we have a QB that can effectively run between the tackles with some power, but alot of quickness and ...

Re: WK 6 Jackson (4-1) @ Marietta (2-3)

I like the ironmen in this game. I hope the defense comes out inspired after last weeks let down. I'm still waiting for the ironmen to pick the better athlete @ QB and allow the offense to control the ball with the good runners and a short controlled passing game that has big play potiential after t...

Re: WK 6 Jackson (4-1) @ Marietta (2-3)

Maybe the best way to stop (or contain) marietta's passing game is to get after the quarterback with more than just the front four. Force the short passes. Place boggs back at safety, where he can read the QB like the past and play two corners that will run with recieves and are good tacklers. This ...

Re: Has anything been done at River Valley?

Is there a committee together to even run the interviews? If so, does anyone know who it may consist of? I heard RV is in transition of a high school principal and the present one had desire of getting a football coach hired soon to allow a little time to recruit after school hours and the importanc...

Re: Softball Bats

Both the rocket tech and the catalyst are great bats. For spring time high school ball, I would recommend the Rocket Tech if one is strong enough to swing it well. The Catalyst is a great summer time(warm weather) bat, but cooler weather really restricts its performance and the ability for the ball ...

Re: Has anything been done at River Valley?

RAT, i don't know if the comment about gathering a persons football knowledge was meant negative, but i was thinking that maybe the administration was looking into the applied candidates to gain a feel before they interview. That would wise, I would think. I would hope that they would be trying to i...

Re: Has anything been done at River Valley?

I hear there are 4 people who have applied for the position, all of which have no head coaching experience in football. Don Kunz is one of the applied candidates, but I don't know that any one would be considered out of the running, since there have been 0 interviews. Maybe administration is seachin...

2008 Jackson Ironladies

Ironladies looking strong in the early going. They have a few new players that have not played for a couple years have returned this season. Have strong numbers, I heard approx. 30 players for Var. & J.V. total. Pitching staff should be strong with 2 quality starters returning from last years sq...
