Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Preseason 2024-25
Honestly, it makes sense. Well coached and usually have some athletes returning. But, two of their top returners have left, which will have them being very inexperienced. However, Bo Henry is a load and has gotten into great shape, so if the young guards can adjust to varsity quickly, they may be a...

Re: Is Symmes Valley a top team in the area
They will be solid, no doubt. Smith kid is very solid. One of the better teams in SEO D6 (I'd put North Adams above them) ... but a top team in all of SEO might be a stretch. I'd put them probably somewhere in the 25-30 range in SEO. Chillicothe Sheridan Miami Trace Marietta Warren Local Jackson Hil...

D4: 1.) Meigs 2.) New Lexington 3.) Logan Elm 4.) Unioto 5.) Hillsboro Don’t sleep on Logan Elm being the best of this bunch by years end. They have a stud and good shooters and athletes around him. Re: SE District Teams by New Division for the 2024-25 season:
A lot of the kids clay gets in do not play sports. I believe you should be able to file an appeal to play in a lower division if applicable. Schools are allowed to play in a bigger division so why not allow schools to appeal to play smaller. Of course, there should be certain requirements for this ...

Re: Coaching Openings
I guess I could have worded that better... it definitely was not an insult whatsoever. Coach Davis is very demanding of his athletes (which is a great thing). He will push them every day and if they don't play his way they will be on the bench (also a great thing). Meigs has had some issues lately s...

Re: Coaching Openings
Coach Davis is a very good coach who gets the most out of his kids. His son will play low D1 (big and can shoot it with 2 years left). Pairing him with what Meigs has returning makes one very special team. Honestly, top 5 in SEO. Could end #1 by years end. The major question is…. Can Meigs handle Da...

Re: Southeast District D IV Baseball Records 2024
South Webster with a tremendous showing against #3 in D3 Wheelersburg last night, falling 3-2. They are gaining some momentum heading into the draw. Hopefully coaches understand the strength of their schedule/conference and rank them fairly. However, being that Martin RPI is not used in OHSAA Baseba...

Coach Crabtree does a great job and his guys will continue to improve. A lot of youth seeing the field in Valley so they just have to keep working and the results will follow.

Re: Southeast District D4 Predictions
South Webster will have young arms but they are extremely well coached and will only improve throughout the season. Playing in the always loaded SOC will make them ready come tournament time regardless of the wins and losses they accrue. I wouldn't sleep on them to win the district again.

I have also heard Lattimore to Burg. He’s a heck of an athlete / player. However, if Portsmouth ends up hiring Lisath as they should, I can’t see any kid leaving Portsmouth. Jeff has done a tremendous job everywhere he’s been and would be a grand slam hire for Portsmouth.

The sad part about all of this talk, by the looks of it no one is beating Richmond Heights in DIV for awhile. Even if they move up to DIII they then have to contend with Africentric, Harvest Prep and Lutheran East. The reality is that it looks like a team from our area will be hard pressed to get o...

Re: South Webster - Head Coach
Didn’t Valley try the “Norm Experiment” a few years back, and it failed miserably? I checked MaxPreps to make sure but looks like they had a winning season and lost in the district final to New Boston, who of course won the Regional and went to State. I'm not sure I'd consider that "failing mi...

I hope the games stay in Dayton. The arena is so much better to watch game in than the Schott. The parking is also a ton better. Driving to eat wasn’t a big deal for us, we found places to eat anytime we wanted to go an eat. If they were in Columbus, I might go to a couple games. Living in eastern ...

Is a kid moving from Clay really going to help New Boston? Clay was winless last year and I'm not even sure their JV team won a game either. Haven't heard anything on Notre Dame but with Metzler's uncle no longer the football coach I'd say there's a possibility he goes elsewhere. Perhaps back to Val...

Re: 2023 OHSAA State Boys Basketball Tournament Attendance Numbers...Down From 2022
Streaming, direct conflict with March Madness, cold weather to travel through, cost of travel/ticket, the general dying off/aging out of the “casual fan”… all of these things are what’s keeping attendance low. Not who plays. I do think every single thing you mentioned is attributing to the low atte...

Re: 2023 OHSAA State Boys Basketball Tournament Attendance Numbers...Down From 2022
I am in agreement with you yabba. However, I don't see the OHSAA doing anything about it. I'm not sure how they do, honestly. Sounds to me like SEO teams need to level the playing field and be more open to transferring / loading up similar to how these schools do. If OHSAA wants more money at the St...

I guess I don't see the issue when guys with 500+ or heck even 700+ wins apply for a job and get it. I feel like they've paid their due and earned their opportunity to look elsewhere. There's very few coaches out there with that type of resume and I'd imagine they're always going to be frontrunners ...

Re: South Webster - Head Coach
This is why you don't see a lot of young coaches these days. A lot of the older coaches get the "good" jobs so they don't have to develop the kids and the younger coaches are left with terrible jobs with nothing coming up and then their coaching record is not very good which causes them n...
