Re: Best SEO BB teams this coming year - Division II, III, & IV
I am going to offer the first candidate: The Chesapeake Panthers
They have a solid starting line-up, they are seasoned players (experienced), they have size, have a solid candidate for all-state (Copley), fast, and have great defensive play.
Their one weakness might be their depth.

Re: small schools that have consolidated?
trojandave: While I certainly yield to your expertise and/or knowledge about basketball in SE Ohio I certainly don't agree with your view that school consolidation is a positive thing for anyone concerned. (Unless you are talking about consolidating administrative services!) Let's get back to basket...

Re: Best High School Program in Southeast Ohio
Sparky: I think if you will look at the topic posted it states that we are looking for the best team overall. That takes in the entire history of the program. While there a number of teams that would make the case for consideration as the best team of the recent decade I don't think that anyone is g...

Chesyfan09: While I fully agree with your assessment about Coach Ater's teaching and coaching abilities I am puzzled about your admonishment "If you guys have a brain in your heads you will let him alone and let him do his thing". No one has, that I noticed, made any negative comments on h...

You have to be drinking the kool-aid! Unless Rock Hill has been recruiting someone they won't finish in the top four or five. After (not necessarily in this order): Chesapeake, Fairland, South Point, and Coal Grove (possibly River Valley).

Bozo"
Exactly, hence I have used the words "best on-going" and also stated "you have to consider their overall achievements old and new" when looking at the success of any basketball program. Also, I think the replys pretty much understand that as well.

Why the hostility to a forum that is just talking about successful basketball programs? I think there is plenty of room for understanding the pride that any school has in their basketball program whether they have won state championships or not.
Dont be a downer!

Re: Best Basketball Conference in Southeast Ohio is?
Trojandave: You make a good point about the SEOAL. I was thinking about the time/s that teams such as Zanesville, Lancaster and Newark were/are in the Conference and thought that it was more representative of central Ohio. I guess the acronym for the SEOAL speaks for it's self, haha. However, I neve...

I don't think that Oak Hill would be in the running. Although they have garnered a great state championship this past year with one of Ohios best coaches I would have to hear a lot more about their past history of success.

Re: Best High School Program in Southeast Ohio
In fairness to any high school program you have to consider their overall achievements old and new. Any program is going to sustain "down periods of time" in their programs. Portsmouth would/should definitely be rated as a strong candidate for best program. TrojanDave, thanks for the info....

Re: Best Basketball Conference in Southeast Ohio is?
I would imagine that the exclusion of the SEOL was because that league extends out of the immediate SE area. Not sure, but I would agree with Runner00 on that.

Re: Best Basketball Conference in Southeast Ohio is?
The really exciting thing about the basketball programs in SE Ohio is that many schools are building great programs and they are now becoming very competitive at the state level. I have followed sports for many years now and I have seen an explosion of schools from our area now going to play in the ...

Re: Best High School Program in Southeast Ohio
Runner00: I can't disagree with your list at all. Actually it was well thought through. I guess though I am a little "out of touch" with the Eastern Pike program. I don't know if they fit in the "storied" catagory but I respect your opinion. All of the others are, however.... rig...

Re: OVC should invite the Ironton Tigers to join the league
BTW everyone, the purpose of inviting the Tigers into the OVC is an acknowledgement that their program is strong and will increase the overall program quality of the OVC. I don't think that Tiger fans should feel like it is a "big" putdown to their football program. Ironton needs a confere...

Re: OVC should invite the Ironton Tigers to join the league
Bengalfan76: It would be interesting to see the SOC II schools have to play OVC schools (across the board) in all sports. What in the world makes you think that Ironton would be better off in the SOC?

Best High School Program in Southeast Ohio
As a follow-up to the topic of the best basketball conference in SE Ohio I thought, as a separate topic it would be interesting to hear what everyones opinion is about which single school has the best on-going basketball program. This about the best overall program, irrespective of their Division.
