Re: bye bye TP

jchip, I agree. It was pretty obvious he was trouble evidently from the very start. I was unaware of some of the things that the previous quarterback at Ohio State said in the recruitment phase. When he delayed the signing to create additonal drama and then reportedly told reporters who questioned i...

Re: bye bye TP

Wow, comparing Pryor and LBJ. LBJ made a very bad mistake by doing "The Decision", but the guy is loved by coaches and teammates. I don't think comparing LBJ to Pryor is very fair. I don't like LeBron but I would rather compare TP to that Maurice guy that played on a OSU football team tha...

Re: bye bye TP

His and the former running back's legacy may be. " What could have been." They both had the world as their oyster but threw it away like a cheap suit. If only the talented players to come could learn from their example, maybe some good could come of all this.

Re: Is there something not quite right here?

Good points all, but what about the players? Will they return to the field? If they play one down of football at Ohio State this is all a travesty. The root problem here is the players. The Reggie Bush's, the Cam Newton's, the quarterback at OSU . They get their reward but have NO consequences. When...

Peake, not disputing that the man made a mistake and deserves punishment of some kind. What I am saying is that in this case the punishment might not fit the crime. I may be totally wrong but I manage people and one of the things I strive to do is give credit where it is due when someone has to be c...

Re: Is there something not quite right here?

I believe that a very good man, not a perfect one, lost his job over a few immature, self-absorbed, arrogant, prima donnas, that the world of collegiate sports needs to make a very strong example of. If you behave in such a way to bring dishonor to the coach and university that offered up a a great ...

Re: Is there something not quite right here?

SEO thanks for the correction on the Z. Maybe it's just me being a huge homer for the Buckeyes and a great admirer of JT but I can't help but think that the coach informed the players and stressed to them the rules and the importance of them. You can lead a horse so to speak. I think it was also bla...

Is there something not quite right here?

Wouldn't the NCAA be more effective if: They went after the real problem here , the players who broke the rules. Getting Jim Tressel removed means very little to some of these idiots. If the NCAA pulled the schollys and went after the root cause of this mess, other entitled athletes might take note....

Re: Terrelle Pryor

I remember years a go when the Michigan mens BK signed a contract to coach elsewhere the following season but wanted to stay and coach Michigan through the tournament. Bo Schembechler put that notion to an end when he said, "Only a Michigan man will coach Michigan players." The same thing...

Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!

It boils to down to a few things. First of all the media are hounds and look for anything to bring good people down. So this guy emails Tressel says hey the FBI are investigating this guy for drugs and stuff I think your guys are involved. Here a problem if he tells the university the Media gets wi...

Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!

Third, the rules ARE stupid. Did getting a tat give the some sort of competitive advantage? NO! ...... Strike Three... As I understand it, I don't think getting the tats was the "stupid" rule that was broken. If tats are against the rules then I wouldn't expect to see 6 total players on t...

Re: JIM TRESSEL HAS RESIGNED!!!!

As I see it the problem begins with recruiting the prima donna's of the world. You know who they are the kids with talent that are swooned over by everyone, and I mean everyone, including every coach on the way up. Can you win at this level without them? NO. Strike One..Second, if you get them or so...

Re: NCAA TOURNY Kentucky vs Ohio ST

My bracket says Ohio State. My heart says Kentucky. Ohio State played really well against GM. UK had the same result last yr shooting really well in the first few games of the tournament and were cold against WVU's 1-3-1. Honestly, I think Diebler will be lucky to get a shot up. He's been money lat...

Re: Uh-oh: Jim Tressel could be in major NCAA hot water

I am glad I am not coaching in today's environment. First of all to compete you have to recruit players who were made "Prima Donnas" long before they arrive at the collegiate level. If you don't recruit this type of player, try and make your best judgment on who will play and stay out of t...

Re: Ethics

I've said it before. Coaches are no different than any other segment of society. Some are in it for the right reasons, some are not. Some are really poor examples of ethics and morals. The problem with some high school coaches is that they think student athletes are stupid. They also, as most poster...

Re: Auburn 2011 Nat Champ SEC 5 in a row !

Big money makes people do things these days that may not have been thought of years ago. Whether it's a Heisman or championship it's better to get the money, get that immediate gratification, so what if you have to give it back, that bird has flown. I'm surprised that he even left Florida, I didn't ...

They have a legit chance to go back to back with Irvin. I think the Buckeyes are as good if not better overall and would also be a favorite. Their next week will tell much about them.

Parts of this quote from another thread got me wondering today: Look, I'm not trying to slam 'dubs in any way.... However, the father in me feels compelled to steer the younguns' back on the right path when they stray. I expect the same from him.... Other than OSU, the Big Ten is at the bottom in r...
