Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)

Bigpappa72 It's a TEAM EFFORT. Coaches prepare players for the game. Players execute the game plan. When everything goes according to plan, victory usually follows. Breakdowns on the sideline or field generally equal defeat. Everybody gets credit for wins. Everybody feels the sting after a loss. I d...

Re: who are the best golies in southeastern ohio

We played against Galia last night and thier Goalie was very good. They didn't have much of and offense but with her in goal it was hard to get a shot by her. She can also punt the ball further then most of the boys I have seen. Marietta also has a very good goalie. We will see how far that gets th...

Re: GIRLS BBALL COACH AT GALLIA ACADEMY

I think Renee and the new staff will do a great job. Jeff Lanham brings a wealth of experience to the program from his coaching days at URG. Plus, he comes from good coaching stock: Art Lanham.
Either Todd Miller or Chris Ellcessor would have been good choices, too.

Re: Gallia Academy 08-09

Is it my imagination or does the SEOAL schedule seem to have either a long string of road games or home games every season?
I'd like to see the league schedule a little balanced with no more than two or three roadies in a row.
Just sayin' ...

Hands down ... Howie Caldwell.
The Master of the Stomp and Whistle.
Also the best postgame interview in the region. No bull. He tells it like it is.

It's a great idea. Such a class should be a combination of strength and agility training.

I think he's referring to the number of XPs in relation to the 42 points scored. Corey went 6-for-6, not 7-for-7.

Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)

GAHS will definitely have step up and play more physical to beat Zanesville. I've seen highlights of the ZHS games with Logan and Chilli, and from what I've been told by people who were actually at both games, Zanesville stayed with both clubs in the physical play department.

Re: WEEK 9 ~ ZANESVILLE (3-5) @ GALLIA ACADEMY (5-3)

I'm hoping for a GAHS win, but Zanesville is a big obstacle. Hopefully, GAHS can stir up a little more magic at Memorial Field. 4-0 at home this season, I believe.

Re: Gallia Academy- 42 Wellston- 20

I watched the game from one of the party porches at the north end of Memorial and got a great view of the line play. Blue Devils' O-line was pretty solid. That group has steadily improved over the course of the season.

Re: What might the future SEOAL look like?

From my conversations with school administrators around SE Ohio, the main reason that I've been told that schools jump leagues from time to time is financial. Future changes to the SEOAL, TVC, OVC, SOC, etc. membership will probably reflect changes to the demographics of SE Ohio itself. In the 14 ye...

Re: PORTSMOUTH DAILY TIMES coverage

Keyser...Thanks for the info. That's a decent number to cover Scioto County sports, if you get help from coaches for the games you don't staff. I think there are 12 high schools in the county, nine with football teams (someone please correct me if I'm mistaken). That could make for a really long nig...

Re: Best female soccer players

Allie Troester from Gallia Academy certainly needs to be mentioned here. Allie is the goalkeeper on the boys' team, since GAHS does not field a girls' squad. She is a junior who has drawn the attention of several D-I college coaches in Ohio. She stands about 6-foot-1 and has great hands and good fee...

Congrats to Chillicothe.
Both schools have fine soccer programs and are always fun to watch.
I wish I could have seen this one.
Good luck to both squads in the postseason.

It's good to see Warren football back on the upswing. They've had some tough seasons recently.
However, I think the Chieftains win handily. It should be a good physical battle, though.

Re: What might the future SEOAL look like?

gahs4ever Good observation on the potential enrollment boost at GAHS with the new school coming next year. Gallipolis City Schools will be in its new high school before Gallia County Local, which could draw substantial numbers not only from the Southwestern area, but also from the Bidwell-Porter are...

Re: PORTSMOUTH DAILY TIMES coverage

Fact is, the PDT is a stepping-stone newspaper for young journalists trying to get to a bigger market. I can safely guess that the paper probably doesn't pay its writers much. You get what you pay for, and if you're paying squat ... well, you get the idea. Anyone know how many writers are on the spo...
