Re: You be the Ref
yellowjacket - maybe i didn't make it to clear. In the first situation there is no technical but we cannot (by rule) correct the situation. So we need to be alert and get it right everytime. In the second situation if we feel that confusion caused the incorrect throw-in we do not give the 1st tech. ...

Re: You be the Ref

Its arrangement is a little more understandable plus it has a particular rule , caseplays, and rationales on the same page. Its probably about $10....

This happened to a crew I was on at Gallia Acad. vs Jackson who at the time was being coached by a former Ref. who started yelling thats not corre...

Basketball Question: You be the Ref
Play - Team A scores a goal, while the ball is dead team A requests and is granted a time out. After the time out the official mistakenly awards the ball to team A, A1 passes to the ball to A2, who scores. The mistake is then discovered by the officials.
Whats the ruling?

Re: Thrown out of a game.
sparky - maybe the ball broke the plane of the inside edge and/or the player's foot broke the plane of the inside edge. If you are looking at the regular rule book, the rule book is orgainized by rule so they are in order. The particular rules are 4-9 -2 which is rule #4, section #9, article #2 then...

Re: Thrown out of a game.
Also dealing with reach and touch - "...The mere fact that contact occurs does not constitute a foul. When 10 players are moving rapidly in a limited area, some contact is certain to occur. (Rule #4-27-1). Contact which may result when opponents are in equally favorable positions to perform nor...

Re: Thrown out of a game.
Swanker - (from Basketball Rules By Topic) Boundary Lines of the court consist of End Lines and Side Line (Rule #4-9-1). The inside edges of these lines define the inbounds and out-of-bounds areas (Rule #4-9-2). So yes a player or the ball (Rule#9-2-2 ... a player may bounce the ball on the out-of-b...

Re: Thrown out of a game.
"T"'s are just another foul. Nothing to get real excited about. Sometimes "coach" might want a "T" to get his team's focus back, get them excited, and/or show them he is fighting for them. Fan ejections are normally a result of fans (short for the word fanatics) wanting...

Re: GREEN BEATS IRONTON ST.JOE
Was able to see Green for the first time a couple of games ago. I like the fact that Coach Blanton is not afraid to switch players until he finds the right combinations for that night. Would like to see the Defense improve, the players on the floor after the ball, and more consistant rebounding. All...

Re: Thrown out of a game.
There is something called the"mob mentality" (sp) so when that ref is looking into the stands he is trying to make eye contact with the person who is doing alot of the yelling, sometimes that will stop the yelling because you've pulled that person from the mob. The big problem with that is...

Re: Thrown out of a game.
By the way its not just Manchester, in Adams County if you are removed from the game it is an automatic Disorderly Conduct which carries a fine. We have one guy whom we tease and say that the Court house in West Union sends him a Christmas card every year

Re: Thrown out of a game.
As a ref for a number of years we normally try to ignore fans, which works with a big crowd cause we normally don't even hear what is said. Its when the crowd is smaller that you can't help but hear. No referee likes to be shown up. As far as holding grudges the guys I normally work with don't hold ...
