Re: massillon paper tigers

Massillon did beat Hoban in the regional final last year.

Tough to beat Hoban and La Salle lately.

Re: What Schools Over/Under Performed?

Unfortunately, Jackson under-performed by a lot in my opinion. They did face some key injuries (Jacob Winters only played about 3 of the 7 games at QB), but costly mistakes and turnovers against Chillicothe and Tri-Valley prevented them from winning the FAC and a playoff game. This Jackson team had ...

The 2019 team had an undefeated regular season, making them one of the best teams in school history. What you were hearing came true just last season.

Nice
Didn't know we were picking up Ironton and dropping Athens, but I'm good with it.

Re: RD 2 : Tri Valley (6-1) @ Jackson (5-1)

Jackson played well in the 2nd half, 1st half not so much. They too have many weapons. Most returning for next year. I’ve never heard of a Jackson program having that many receivers making that many plays. Jackson is loaded with skill players right now, which is somewhat atypical for us. Not to say...

Re: Found the argument for letting everyone in playoffs

Medina has a QB, Drew Allar, that is very highly regarded. He's getting some looks from major D1 programs, but I don't think he has many big time offers yet. I was still shocked to see that they knocked off St. Ed's.

Congrats to Tri-Valley and good luck.

Tough loss for the Ironmen. They had so many opportunities, but just didn't take advantage of them. Costly turnovers and mistakes.

Tough end to the season for the departing seniors, but they still accomplished a lot during their careers.

Re: RD 2 : Tri Valley (6-1) @ Jackson (5-1)

Jackson has all kinds of talent at the skill positions, but to beat Tri-Valley, they need to win the battle on the line of scrimmage. Jackson needs to be physical. They need to be able to run the football, and stop the run. Jackson's program has been built on toughness, not finesse. Time to get toug...

Re: Region 11

Jackson's loss last night surprised me, but I will say that I did expect a relatively close game. Chillicothe has steadily improved since their opening loss to Wheelersburg and Jackson had not been tested (just a little bit by Trace for a short time). They've been winning by large margins, but I nev...

Re: Region 11

They've done pretty well, agreed. Notice I said at the top of my post "away from home". I did have free front row parking & ticket last year (courtesy of a longtime administrative friend) when I came down last year for the Centennial game but I knew that was going to be a bad night fo...

Re: Region 11

As an old SEOAL area transplant to C-bus many years ago, I'm still hoping to see Jackson get over that 2nd rd hump away from home. Technically with the bye ,Tri-Valley (who will beat Centennial) is a second rd game but Jackson is @ home for their 1st game. T-V played Sheridan close in the rival gam...

Re: Region 11

No love for Jackson Jackson is right where they should be. They got a bye because they're 5-0, but they're the lowest ranked team with a bye because of their lack of schedule strength. That's not their fault since their better OOC games were taken away due to the schedule restructuring, but when wo...

Re: Jackson Ironmen 2020

Another close one that I just noticed was 1980.

Jackson went 8-1-1. Lost to Portsmouth and tied Ironton. Finished 3rd in the region back when two teams made the playoffs. Ironton and John Glenn were the two teams that got in the playoffs in that region.

Re: Jackson Ironmen 2020

I was kinda surprised they only had 14 playoff teams in their history. I'm not disrespecting, just thought they would have had some prior to 1996. It was extremely tough to make it years ago,I understand. Weren’t very good from early 80’s until 1989. Started having solid teams. Finished 5th I think...

Alder led Hartley 14-13 late in the 4thQ. Gave up a TD with 1:23 remaining, Hartley got the 2-point conversion to lead 21-14. Alder drove the length of the field but threw a pick at the goal line that was returned 100 yards on the final play. Hartley 27-14 Final.

Re: WK12: #3 Jackson (11-0) vs. #2 Jonathan Alder (11-0)

Well, I certainly didn't mean to start a huge strength of schedule debate by saying that I want Jackson to take the next step in the post-season. Mentioning the crucial mistakes last night was also not a knock on anyone particular, so I hope it wasn't taken that way. It's just a trend that I have se...
