Racine Party in the Park 5K Race

Post by Storm Chaser »

The Racine Party in the Park 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 in downtown Racine.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. across from the post office followed by the race at 9 a.m. A Party in the Park parade will be held at 10 a.m. and a chicken barbecue will be at 11 a.m. followed by entertainment and activities at Star Mill Park all day culminating with a concert by country star Joe Diffie at 6:30 p.m.
The race will start downtown and the route includes Star Mill Park, the new Ohio River Boating Access, quiet residential streets and then finally along the parade route and spectators before the finish line in front of the post office. The race is rain or shine.
Registration is $12 in advance or $15 the morning of the race with proceeds to benefit the Southern Fitness Center, which is open free to all members of the community. Registration forms will be available soon at the Southern Fitness Center, Southern Local Schools and at many Racine-area businesses.
Overall and age group winning walkers and runners will be recognized at the finish line after the parade.
Come for the run, stay for the Party in the Park! :-D

P.S. I ran the course a couple of times just to "test it out," it's a great course, not boring and fairly "fast."
