Warren boys 4x800 just finished their historic run in 7:54.86 to win the Ohio State Div II championship!!!!! Congratulations on the first championship in track for Warren. This is also a new school record!! I am really pumped up and excited for Warren, and Tyler Cox had finished tied for 3rd in pole vault earlier at a height of 14'. Congrats so far for all. BTW, Tyler Cantley, Justin Roush, Nick Wilson, and Sam Majoy were in the relay.

I think Warren has had a state champ in Wrestling, but this is a big, big deal. It's been a long time since I've heard of anything approaching this. The fact that it was a relay, where you had to have 4 elite runners . . . WOW! Looks like it was a very good 2 team race. I would love to know the splits if anyone has them.

Should we all gather at THE stoplight in Barlow and welcome the team home?!

i see were The Marietta boys have six points up on baumspage--any one know what it was in--3200 or high jump?

I spoke with someone that spoke with someone . . . . you know the deal. Anyway, I was told that we were in 4th place when Nick Wilson took the baton and when he handed it off, we were in first. Sounds like he had a nice run.

I hope that Majoy, Wilson and Cantley have lots in the tank for tomorrow.

I hate it that Wilson and Cantley have to run the 1600 and the Mile so close together. Tyler may have a tough time with Galen Dils after trying to track down Leslie in the 1600. Dils will not want to lose to Tyler head-to-head for a third time.

Found this description "elsewhere" . . .

"I just watched it and had Warren's splits at 1:57.xx, 2:01.xx, 2:00.xx, and Cantley had the lead and ran 1:55.xx and held of Leslie. Leslie was in 4th when he got the baton and caught Cantley with about 150 to go. He went around him with about 120 to go, but Cantley stayed right on him and then with about 80 to go he went outside of Leslie and they were neck and neck but Cantley had enough to outkick him. Leslie had to go 1:51 at least."

you have it right - we are here - and it was awesome! These kids left it all out there in the heat of the day. Might be the race of the meet - we will see. Majoy led off w/ a 1:58, Roush followed w/ a solid 2:01, Wilson gave the lead to Cantley w/ a very nice 1:59, and Cantley was able to hold off a very talented Corey Leslie w/ a lean at the end. Cantley ran a 1:55 w/ Leslie running a 1:50 split - the crowd was going crazy - it was 100 meter sprint to the end. I have said all along - Cantley was the only one that could handle Leslie at the end - and he did.

Congratulations.

I was so scared they were going to disqualify the team when one of the earlier legs went to the back stretch and took 3-4 steps on the inside of the track in step with the anchor runner as they cheered him on. I have seen teams disqualified in similar 'pacing' situations but the closest officials were facing away from the off the track runner and did not see it. Thank goodness. But it was a scary moment.

probably the best 4x800 we will see at that level for some time. first 2 legs keeping them with in reach, nick putting tylor in position, and tylors kick. you did us good guys.
