Congrats need to go out to former Eastern High School and University of Rio Grande track standout Matthew Boyles on his second place finish in the 20 KM racewalk at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Unfortunately, Matt did not meet the standard time to advance to Beijing; however, he made southeastern Ohio very proud. AWESOME JOB MATT!!!!!

I was not aware until reading this post that Matt did not make the A standard with his 1:28. What is the A standard and does Matt have one or more chances to achieve this before the Olympics start?

I know in the 04 Olympics in Athens that another "local" girl, Bobbie Jo Chapman from Charleston W.VA. qualified for the U.S. Team and not not make the standard.
