Why is it most local track and field teams do not have a full schedule. You are allowed 16 contests and most schools only have around 10 or 11. is it cost prohibitive? or are their other reasons and what could be done to get the kids more of a opportunity to compete?

16 could be hard to do--on the average the regular season only last six weeks before getting into league meets. 16 meets would be about 2 1/2 meets a week.

There are 2 schools of thought. Run many meets to get your athletes ready while others concentrate of training. It is tuff to train when you are running Tuesdays and Friday's .
