Pole Vault skills,drills,safety clinic

Post by Flatulence »

On Monday, january 19th the SEOTCA will be sponsoring a skills, drills, and safety camp. This is for all coaches - junior high and high school AND for all vaulters. It will begin at 8:00 a.m. with coaches receiving their safety certification and vaulters receiving classroom instruction. At 10:30 a.m. the actual rotation of various drill and skill practice will begin.

The cost will be $10.00 per participant to defray water, coffee, and snack expenses.

The camp will run through to 3:30 p.m.

Vaulters will need to bring a towel for pole plants and another towel to dry off after pool vaulting. Coaches are asked to bring sliding boxes that can be used indoors and/or a sliding box with a towel on the underside to prevent damage to the floor.

Last spring several bad practices were witnessed - practices that many of us fought to prevent when the pole vault was being considered being taken out of the list of events. We have to get a handle on this - again - otherwise out goes the vault. EVERY and ANY person who works with vaulters needs to be in attendance as this day will be the most informative we have sponsored in a while. Old, wrinkly, grizzled, seasoned coaches will be making a sincere attempt to pay forward. We would love to see 100% attendance from SE Ohio coaches.

Attendance won't be 100%. Some of us have school that day. This is a great idea. I would love to be there and help.

This day on January 19th at Rio Grande for pole vault safety, skills, and drills will be a long and hard day for everyone. HOWEVER, there will be lots of learning going on and we want to have a packed house. It will cost only $10.00 per person which will be used to defray expenses for drinks and snacks. The athletes WILL go home tired - and full of drills to improve vaulting skills. Safety will be stressed. We will talk about pole usage, the bend of a pole, etc. So, coaches, parents, officials, and administrators we urge you to attend to see just what the coaches - track and field coaches - of Southeastern Ohio are doing. The first 2 and 1/2 hours will be classroom for the coaches and for the vaulters will be a combination of classroom and gym work.

Hope to see a crowd!!
