Kaylin Whitney Olympian

Post by Tjhtygeverve »

I just wanted to update/share again the progress (6years later) of my co cast members daughter where I work at Epcot, the past 26-years.

A Junior USA champion in the 200m & 100 meter dash & Pan Am games gold medalist as a teenager, Kaylin turned pro quickly, to compete & grow, & she has enjoyed the past 5-years competing & now finds herself in an event she never thought she could compete in & doing better in each outing!

In a short 6-month event change into the 400m after the 100/200m events seemed to give her a yo-yo effect of struggle/success/struggle/success, as she continued to mature as a young pro.

NEVER GIVING UP, she made the change to 400m after touring the diamond league circuits in both the 100 & 200m the past 5-years, but definitely was watching her Olympic dreams slip away.

During this time, she barely missed the Rio games in 2016 in 200m, & she had to fight and refocus & work closely with her sponsor, Nike, as she explored moving into the 400 meter field for future career consideration.

This fall, she was asked to refocus on 400m.
Running 53+ times to start, she worked very hard & barely qualified for USA Olympic trials via time & with a national ranking in the 80’s prior to the trials.

At trials she kept advancing & advancing, shaving a second off her SB & PB each advancement until she found herself in the 400 meter finals.

A lane 9 drawl, beside Alison Felix, she fought and fought to a 4th place finish at 50.26
Making the Olympic team, overcoming all odds & naysayers.

She’s part of the Olympic relay pool & at a diamond league event in London last week ran another near sub 50 (50.12 & PB) hopefully proving she deserves a chance to compete /Relay.

She continually keeps improving!!

I am a former 400m competitor in the old SEOAL for IronTon and love this event & although a football fan on here, I share with all sports fans in Ohio this talented 22-year old, Kaylin Whitney, a Team USA OLYMPIAN &ask humbly for fellow SEOPS posters and Ohio fans of all for their support and prayers!

Go KayLin WHITNEY! FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!!

Snatch some medals and enjoy your time in Tokyo!

We put this video montage together to send to her in Tokyo as she is there all alone & working hard to make the USA proud.

No spectators, friends, & family allowed for support!
Something she got used to as a teen traveling the world competing in the diamond league 100/200 m circuit, so we’re hoping that gives her a mental edge.

Reporting back she has said it’s an amazing village & facility the Ppl of Tokyo prepared well for, only to have covid continue to flex its continual mess on this world & time we all Come Together to celebrate sporting & humanity.

We were able to Skype with her our support & here are some pics I can share!

•They are shared with Disney approval as we Skyped from work property!•

Thanks for the best hope for Kaylin.

We surprised her with homemade wall hangings to keep her company. The athletes need all support possible.

Happy Day back to Olympic Village after Practice with Women’s 4x400m relay.

Kaylin is currently being analyzed for lead leg & 3rd leg of relay, depending on Alison Felix 400m results.

GO USA
GO KAYLIN WHITNEY.

Can you imagine reaching the pinnacle of your career to be alone for 3-weeks, sleep on a cardboard frame bed & stay focused.

These Olympians are MY HEROES!

Thank you Logan Amigo /NoReply!!!

She really did well after moving from 100-200 m shorts to 400m shortly before usa Olympic trials.

Bronze 4x400m mixed.
GOLD 4x400m women’s.(HEATS)Lead off leg in prelim 2.

Highest qualifying team out of the 16 countries securing team USA a spot in finals & eventually gold!

50.52 @ lead off leg position, which is another improvement considering lead leg is 410-415 meters.

CONGRATS USA!

She will start working with new 400m coach specialist in 6 weeks!
