MVW= ???

Team scores = ???

I give total credit to GH staff for over coming every major obsticle imaginable so that a lot of kids could wrestle - Extreme Cold, Snow, Schools Canceling, A total change in format, A power outage for over 5 hours due to a fire 2 blocks away - No Problem - just wrestle. Certainly there were a few things to complain about at this tournament, but Grandviews flexibility to keep this thing moving overcomes anything else.

The refs also deserve some credit for hanging in all day - though they had some really bad moments - including one ref stopping a match to get into it with a coach, and during another match a fan (This ref needs to learn to be deaf to what is going on off the mat), and some loss of control over 3 championship matches that led to 2 signifigant injuries (hope everyone is alright) and another close call involving a chair & the floor (Those refs need reminded their first responisbility is to protect the kids). Over all though - good job on what were surely some freyed nerves.

Props to the wrestlers, Coaches, stats and Fans for hanging in & over coming also.

Johnson beat Leitwein 12-1. Corey faced a buzzsaw name Filandus Boyd in the finals. Remember that name....he's a D1 112 pound STUD.

Bobby wrestled Corey as well as he could. however Leitwein was way to aggressive for a wrestler like Corey and forced the issues and Corey took advantage and won 12-1. Johnson is the better wrestler but Leitwein was not afraid to mix it up but probably should have slowed down a bit. Boyd looked great I was shocked.

I figured Bobby and Corey would have a good match. Bobby is a good wrestler sometimes vetern wrestlers can control the tempo alittle better.
I wish both Bobby and Corey a very successful season. Both of you as coaches have been very repectful and I greatly appriciate that.

After the match Corey told me that Boyd was the fastest kid he has ever seen. Corey is getting close to 100 wins, so he's faced some good kids......Filandus being one of them.

The weather has always been a bear during this tournament. Kudos to the Grandview folks for always running a nice tourny! I remember losing power during a summer tournament...talk about trying your patience...but, we worked through it! lol!
