GAHS tennis team tops Jackson, 4-1

Visiting Gallipolis Gallia Academy defeated host Jackson 4-1 in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League match at Jackson Wednesday evening.

Gallipolis improved to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in SEOAL play. The Blue Devils will tackle Marietta in a non-league match at Marietta on Friday and host league-leading Portsmouth on Monday, April 23. The Trojans are 5-0 in league play.

Jackson fell to 2-3 in league play after Wednesday’s loss to Gallipolis. Chillicothe is 1-3 and Logan 0-4 in conference action.

Wednesday, Gallia’s Jared Lester lost to Barr, 6-2, 6-2 in first singles play. In second singles action, Gallia’s Kelle Craft defeated Derth, 6-2, 6-0. In third singles action. Gallia’s Connor Christian downed Wood, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

GAHS won both double matches. Riley Nibert-Sean Saltzgaber beat Kirby-Osbourne 7-6,7-2, 6-3 and Alex Gaguras-Joe Sebasian defeated Coyan-McNelly, 6-1, 7-5.

Nibert-Saltzgaber remained unbeaten in eight matches this spring. Christian-Gagucas are 5-2 and Craft 4-2.
