Ultimate Tailgate Cook-Off this Saturday

Post by Teufelhunden »

Saturday November 12th at The Lot in Glouster across the street from the stadium from 11:00-2:00

Athens County tailgaters will be cooking off to claim the prize of top tailgater for 2011.

Now for the important part, children services will be there with their van. Throw a new toy in the van and you get a wrist band that allows you to eat all you want. Children services does a great job of trying to make sure no kids go without presents at Christmas. Here is your chance to give to a great cause and have a great time. The ole killin two birds with 1 stone saying. Help us make sure no child goes without a present this holiday season.

There will be teams from Alexander, Athens, Federal Hocking, Nelsonville-York and Trimble. There will be plenty of great food as these guys have all proven themselves as top notch tailgaters.

Big thanks to Zonez for sponsoring this as it could not occur without their help. It could also not occur without the cookers who selflessly give their time for a good cause.

Special thanks to Rose Mayle (Federal Hocking), Dawn Deputy (Alexander), Sam Smathers (Athens), Mary Moore and Bruce Fouts (Trimble) and Mike Bishop and Sam Kinnison (Nelsonville-York). These guys put in a lot of time to make this happen.

May the best chow win :-D

Sounds like a great event. Maybe they should have it at Athens HS since they will be hosting a playoff game on Saturday.

Just got back from a meeting with representatives from each school. Everyone is ready to roll. People from 5 different schools coming together for a great cause. Bring a toy down to the lot and have a good time.

Just got home, had a great time, finally got to meet Bishtakes and the Sultan face-to-face, was really nice to get to do so. Good crowd, lots of eats, and when I left, looked like ALOT of toys! My thanks to the organizers for pulling it all together, and more importantly, to all of the tailgaters from around Athens county that provided all of the food! Hopefully, the toy contributions will help make for a better Christmas for Athens County's underprivileged children.

Thanks for comin to all who attended. I thought we had a great event and children services went back to Athens with a whole van load of toys and 1100 in cash. Big thanks to all the cookers as this event certainly could not occur without them.

Congratulations to Eddie Buckeye for being crowned the 2011 Athens Tailgating Champion. Kevin Coey of Trimble was runner up with Sam Smathers and Mary Queen of Athens taking home 3rd. The Dogs also were crowned dessert champs with Terry Smathers' peanut butter pie.

The Trimble Tomcats took home the hardware for best overall plate.

Thanks so much to all who made this a wonderful event.
