3T. Alexander Spartans - 40 games played [NY leads 38-1-1]
5. Wellston Golden Rockets - 39 games played [NY leads 30-9]
6T. Athens Bulldogs - 32 games played [NY leads 20-12]
6T. Meigs Marauders - 32 games played [NY leads 20-12]
8. Logan Chieftans - 28 games played [Logan leads 21-7]
9. Federal Hocking Lancers - 23 games played [NY leads 22-1]
10T. Warren Warriors - 19 games played [NY leads 11-7-1]
10T. Miller Falcons - 19 games played [NY leads 17-2]
12. Crooksville Ceramics - 13 games played [Crooksville leads 7-6]


If games played against the former Nelsonville Greyhounds were included, this list would look different, as Wellston, Athens, Meigs and Logan would shoot to the top of the list. It becomes complicated when you factor in pre-consolidations [Greyhounds played Athens, The Plains and Chauncey-Dover every year, as well as playing Pomeroy and Middleport every year]. Jackson and Gallia Academy would also be near the top of this list.


If a non-league schedule were built around past rivalries, NY would be playing these teams non-league:

All of these non-league games would have been former league games at one point or another except for Crooksville.

Newark catholic now that's a team to talk about in football

Why does a team have to have a state title to have tradition and success? Only one team can win it each year and by the way only 4 win the region each year. Nelsonville and the fans and alumni and supporters should always continue to push toward that goal of winning a state title and be disappointed when they do not get there... but anyone who does not recognize a team that has only had 1 losing season in history... that's something to talk about! It's the people who listen to the naysayers that hold the team and community back. Newark Catholic? A team to talk about? They have their own unique tradition and success blah blah blah, but over the course of the years they have not done it in the same manner NY has done it. We have a great youth program and yes families have MOVED or transferred students to NY... BUT we do not have Dads who go to area youth league games and fraternize with the parents and develop a relationship and get kids to go to NC... the success of the other area schools has kept young men in the school district they live in... that is all

On the flip side, did Nelsonville have a winning football record against ANY team in the SEOAL while they were in it for the first 40+ years ? I highly doubt it. The TVC was a godsend and they know it. Athens is finding that out now and should flourish for many years to come, especially with the ALL SPORTS TROPHY.

Seoal was filled with much bigger schools... tvc is mostly bigger schools as well but ny has competed fine over the years. Seoal travel and sports wise was not a good fit

Seoal if the div. one and div. 2 teams where split up like the teams in the tvc they would be terrible..think about how unbeatable an all athens county football team would be..unbeatable
