Just curious, but how did Athens pass thurgood Marshall?? I'm glad they did, but I thought I read T. Marshall beat a D2 team with a good record 56-7 and Athens beat alexander a D5 team 40-7. How do they get more points for that?

The last game that a team has played isnt the only thing that gives teams points. Athens in total has 38 1st level points, and T. Marshall only has 35.5. Athens has 130 level 2 points and T. Marshall has 130.5. Athens level 2 divisor is 99 and T. Marshalls is 98. So the 2.5 more first level points Athens has barely put them ahead. How many points you beat a team by doesnt have anything to do with it either, a win is a win whether its by 1 or 100.

TM beat a team that gave then 22.5 points and their previously defeated teams won some and gave them 16 more points for 38.5

Athens received 25 points from Alexander and it was an excellent week for the teams they have already beaten and received another 18 points for a total of 43.

I knew the teams Athens beat gave them more points, I guess my question is how does a D5 school that was 6-1 give you more points than a D2 school that was 5-2.

They didn't. It's the part that he mentioned about Athens' other previously defeated opponents that benefited them the most this past week.

Because the D5 school had 1 more win (3.5-5 points for them)

Alex had 25 points from defeating teams....the 5-2 school had 22.5 points which tells me the D2 school must've been beating D4 schools....just like Alexander.

Alexander has 2 wins vs D6 (7 points), 1 win vs a D5 (4 points), 2 wins versus D4 schools (9 points) and 1 vs a D3 (5 points) = 25 points....plus defeating D5 Alexander gave Athens 4 1st level points.

The team Thurgood Marshall beat was 5-3 D2 Belmont...but as I assumed Belmont has defeated 1 D6 team (3.5 points), 3 D4 teams (13.5 points) and a D2 (5.5 points)....equals 22.5 points and TM was awarded 5.5 points for defeating a D2 school, that goes to their 1st level points.

The only difference was Athens had an extra 4.5 points earned from the teams they defeated already vs that of TM

Not sure exactly how this system works but would Notre Dame (Region 23) still be able to make it with two losses on the season?

Lol nope you did a good job explaining. When you just look at it right off hand, you would think a bigger school would give you more points

Yeah....the best thing for any of us would be to face a ho hum D1 school that beats up on cruddy D2 schools.

The Athens/NY winner is just points galore, tough schedule or not it's going to bring the winner over 40 points.

If Athens beats N-Y, I think they'll be at least the #4 seed and be playing at home in Week 11. They could probably also get the #3 seed, but would need some favorable things to happen, such as a Logan Elm or Springfield Shawnee loss.

Gary West Side (IN) won on Saturday, so that gave Thurgood Marshall a little boost.

buckeyeguy,

Regardless of what Valley and Wynford do, NY will end up being the number 1 seed as long as they do as expected and win out.
