is it possible to make the playoffs at 1-9?

Post by mr.dude2010 »

say a DV school played
1. St. X
2. Archbishop Moeller
3. St. Ignatius
4. Elder
5. Cardinal Mooney
6. Anderson
7. Alter
8. Colerain
9. Solon
10. Dublin Coffman

aside from the ridiculous travel costs and the complete lack of a chance at any league championship, could a DV or DVI school win 1 or 2 games and make the playoffs?

thank you i just thought it would be funny to see a 1-9 ish team in the playoffs i guess they'd have to win 2-4 games with that schedule to make it

Wheelersburg got in at 5-5 a few years back and Middletown Fenwick got it at 3-7 once as well.

Didn't Greenup make the playoffs 1 year with a 1-9 record?

The playoffs are different in Kentucky. I think the go by regional wins over there and I believe Greenup got in because of that.

I'm pretty sure Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit got in at 3-6 (had a bye week) a few years ago.

because of the way Kentucky figures their playoffs i believe that you have to win your district and the year Greenup Co. got in their 1 win was against the only other team in their district. kinda like California. :-D

I'm thinking that a D V school went 6-2 with two bye weeks and got in a few years ago. They played all D II and III schools and 6 wins was enough to get in, they might've hosted too I can't remember the specifics of it.

I looked it up, Columbus Bishop Ready got a 5 seed in region 19 last year at 6-2. They lost in the regional final to Liberty Union after beating portsmouth west at Logan. They had a stout schedule to say the least. Here's a link to their joe eitel page from last year: http://www.joeeitel.com/hsfoot/teams.js ... teamID=220

Also looked up the information on Walsh Jesuit.

They went 3-6 in 2001 and got the #7 seed in Division II Region 5.

Their three wins were over the following teams...

D1 - Mayfield (9-2, lost in the 1st round of the playoffs)
D1 - Strongsville (9-2, lost in the 1st round of the playoffs)
D4 - Akron SVSM ( 10-4, lost in State Semis)

Walsh Jesuit lost their first round playoff game to Youngstown Chaney, 7-13.

Here's a link to their schedule and results for the season. Definitely a TOUGH schedule. EVERY team they played went to the playoffs!

IF YOU ARE IN KY. LET ME EXPLAIN TOBIAS, I REMEMBER GREENUP COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL GO ONE TIME AND THEY WERE EITHER 1-10, OR 1-9. BECAUSE OF DISTRICTING OR SOMETHING, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT WORKS.

I'M SURE TOBIAS COULD EXPLAIN IT BETTER THAN I.
