The best way to get them to move the games is for fans not to show up to where they are and they have slowly been doing this.

the games belong in stark county, it's not that far of a drive.

while watching these game on tv and seeing the crowds... OSU could handle it easy... if they can handle B-BALL they could handle the crowds.. asked any player which site i would say OSU wins out.....

I wonder if the casual fan is staying away more because of the log drive and the same teams making it so often and those same teams seem to win more times than not.

This is going to be the 2nd year in a row that the private school has won four of the six games. I think this could be a factor in also, with the casual fan.

5 reasons why I don't go anymore.

1- way to far to drive
2- same teams seem to win year in and year out. gets boring
3-way to far to drive
4- cost nearly as much as going to a pro game
5- way to far to drive

I had forgotten about the price that is another good reason.

I'm an hour away, a big fan and often went to the games. But, now older and with games on TV, why go ?? I enjoy watching them on TV for free, in comfort, out of the cold. I still remember sitting in Fawcett Stadium in Canton freezing my tail off in a driving snow storm when Warren Harding played Cincinnati Elder a few years ago for the D-I Championship . Unless I had a son playing, I probably wouldn't go now and there are two state Champs already from the area this year in Mooney & Ursuline that I follow. Reasons differ for alot of folks. I remember the old crowds at Ohio St., about the same size as today's but in an 80,000+ stadium (now 100,000+). That looked bad and is one of the reasons the games were moved.

On top of that most private schools that I have seen DO NOT travel well....

I won't go to these games because of travel and cost,oh yes, its Deer season too.. Also the same teams doesn't help either.

Move the games back to Columbus and I would probably make it to a game as long as its not a private school playing in it....

I am going to link this thread to another site and the same thread from that site to here.

That way we might get more members on both sites and have more talk about this issue.

I think Paladin hit the nail on the head with the TV coverage. Why would I want to drive around 200 miles, set in the cold, spend a couple hundred bucks on gas, food, and tickets when I can watch all 6 games live in the comfort of my home. Sure, if Wheelersburg or another local team was there I might make the drive, but not just to watch a state championship game between two teams I don't know that much about and don't really care who wins when I can catch it at home.

When NY won the state championship in 1981, the game was played at Groveport-Madison High School in Groveport. I think state championship games should be in central Ohio.

In the state of Virginia, all state championship games are played at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Charlottesville is about one hour east of the middle of the state, so its not quite in the middle, but it's close enough.

9, 845 for Div I......

Davidson shocked Cleveland Glenville 16-15 before a tense crowd of 9,845 in Fawcett Stadium.

Ok look at it this way.
You have to take a day off work. For me $300+. Tickets $60, gas $60(both way), parking lets say $20/day. Hotel (it is 3 hrs away) $100.00/night times 2. Food $30/Day.
Not counting the day off work I have $420 easy.
Now If I want to take my two boys multiply tickets by 3 and food costs by 3.
No way can a family afford this any more.
Move the game to columbus and elimated the hotels. Also move games back to Thanksgiving weekend and people don't have to miss work to go. Most get Friday off.
Also with games on TV, I can watch at home with my boys at fraction of the costs.
