NY needs to win 8 to get in. Anything less, they will be outside 2 years in a row.

I hope my Falcons can get the job done and make the playoffs for the fourth straight year. I think they will need to win 8 to get in the playoffs though(maybe they can get in with 7), but they have to continue improving week-in and week-out and not peak too early.

The SOC II is going to be widely competitive again this year, with Minford, West, Burg, and Valley all competing for the title with good teams. At least 2 in D5 will get in, while West has a real good shot at making the playoffs in D4.

Still 14 teams in Region 19 undefeated. The most in any Region in the whole state. This could be the year that some 9-1 and 8-2 teams are left out.

Still alot of football to be played. Way too early to start thinking about who is in and who is out.

I'm guessing the cut-off point will be around the 16.5 mark this year. Just an early season guess.

Big games this week:

Liberty Union vs. Amanda-Clearcreek. This is a huge point game for LU. AC is usually a pretty good team and will give a lot of points if you can beat them. If LU loses this game then they are behind the 8 ball already regarding points as not many more point games are on their schedule other than West Jeff at the end of the year.

Coal Grove vs. Valley. More so for Valley. They have a lot of good point games, but they will be tough games to win. CG probably could lose and still be in fine shape. Plus in general it's just a good barometer game for both and Region 19.

Barnesville vs. Caldwell. Last year Caldwell beating Barnesville catapulted Caldwell into the playoffs. Both will probably win 6 to 8 games so it's a nice point game for both. Both could point to this game at the end of the year as one reason why they didn't make it.

Wheelersburg vs. Portsmouth. Despite being 0-2 the Pirates are still in fine shape, but if they don't get the ship righted here they will start to get pinched. They have a lot of tough games ahead. I think they make it with only 7 wins.

Nice rundown, selonmc.
If Coal Grove wins one of their next three, they'll be playing in week 11 especially if they knock off Greenup County at home. They won't lose an OVC game.

I don't know much about Greenup Co KY, but aren't they usually a bad program? Just going by researching joe eitel's past years. They are a big school, but usually have poor records and the ohio teams usually beat them. I have CG beating them, but is that a harder game than I'm giving credit for? CG score for last year was 36-22, and even Portsmouth Notre Dame beat them.

Notre Dame didn't beat them this year or last year. Greenup is better this year than last year. It will be a good game in week 5.

8-2 left NY sitting at home last year. But you are right someone who deserves it probably wont make it.

Your probably right about that fuzz, win one of the next three and we should be in good shape, but I am looking big picture, win the next three weeks, win the OVC and be hosting in week 11

Said this on another thread, Crooksville has a chance to make this even though they aren't a great team by any means. They beat on a Berne Union team that isn't very good and they will without a doubt demolish miller. They knocked off a Philo team that is about like most of the rest in the middle of the MVL, not very good. Sheridan and TV will both hammer the ceramics and Maysville is a toss up game. Outside of that they have a real shot at 7 or 8 wins. That said they could also lose 5 or 6 so who knows. The MVL has two powerful teams (SHS, and TV), 1 average team in Maysville, I would list Cville/Philo/JG/NL as bad with potential to be mediocre teams, and then you have Morgan and West M who will battle it out for the distinction as the worst football team I have ever seen in the MVL. *side not-Lakewood of the MSL would compete for the worst title with the bottom two, watched them play sheridan and they are beyond bad, which brings me to millersport whom Lakewood trounced 48-0 haha.

There are some pretenders toward the top right now to be sure, (Crooksville, Southeastern, Cardington)
but I'm sure that will sort itself out in the next few weeks.

As I responded on the other thread Crooksville probably would have to win 9 to get in. 8 might but I doubt it.

Things will start to take some actual shape over the course of the next three or four weeks, and then will get down right crazy over the course of the last three weeks.

Caldwell picked up a big win against Barnesville last night, coming back from a 14-0 halftime deficit to score the game winning TD with 8 seconds left to win 24-21. They are now 3-0 heading into week 4 with a big match-up against 2-1 Monroe Central. Fort Frye also improved to 3-0 on the season beating Waterford, while Shenandoah dropped a game to Meadowbrook. Heard they played without their starting QB though.

Pretty meaningless to have them ranked this way. Based on your criteria, you may as well draw names to rank them.

No stock in your theory.

New rankings are up heading into week 4.

http://www.joeeitel.com/hsfoot/2010region_19.html

Big PVC match-up this week as current #2 Caldwell travels to current #14 Monroe Central.

Monroe Central is getting into the tough part of there schedule. 3-0 Caldwell this week, then Fort Frye (3-0), Magnolia (3-0), Shenandoah (2-1), and Barnesville (2-1)
