Not to shabby for the little village of Middleport, they won 25% of the total SEOAL football championships in their 37 years in the league. Meigs Local now has roughly 60% of the land area in the county and haven't won but a couple since they've been in the TVC.gahs4ever wrote:go to http://www.gahssports.com and you can find team records for Meigs for every year they were members of the SEOAL until they cut and ran to the TVC.
From our football program I can tell you that from 1926-1966 (consolidation to form Meigs HS), Pomeroy was 107-133-21 9n SEOAL league play with 1 championship and Middleport, from 1929 to 1966 was 108-134-10 with nine championships.
Meigs, from 1967-1982, was 53-47-2 with one championship.

Jim got that job at Rutland because he was passing thru town after serving in the Big One (WWII) and being a baseball scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1947 and saw where they were needing a coach, he applied, was hired and the next 15 years were devoted to coaching every contact sport (baseball, basketball and football) for Rutland high school until he quit teaching/coaching in 1962. He was Ohio Coach of the Year in 1959. He then was principal at Rutland Elementary for the next 6 years until he retired and took a job as a scout for the Cincinnati Reds which lasted from 1968 to 1995 when he was almost 88 years young. Mr. Vennari died at the age of 100 a couple of years ago. He obtained his Bachelor degree from Salem College in WV and his Masters from WVU.the_big_coach wrote:Don't forget little old Rutland high school.
