Gallia Academy Kicker breaks 64 year old school record

In 1948 Gene Weatherholt kicked 40 extra points for the Blue Devils setting a single season record that has stood for 64 years....till tonight. GA kicker Dylan Saunders kicked 3 extra points against rival Jackson to bring his season total to 43. That record has stood for 64 years!! Congrats to Dylan and to the SEOAL League Champs Blue Devils. It has been a total team effort all year long. A great offense, solid long snapping and a great crew of holders has combined to accomplish this record.

It was first thought that Saunders broke Gene Wetherholt's 1948 school record of 40 extra points from placement in one season last Friday, but a record check found that Wetherholt's mark was broken by Joe Esmaeili with 41 of 48 in 2005.

However, Saunders set a school record for kicking the most field goals in one season--he has six. The old mark was five by Jeremy Payton in 1999 and Ty Hannon in 2010.

Devil 2011---You are right about Taylor. Checked last year's stats and he had seven of 12 field goal attempts so Saunders did not set a most field goals in one season mark. On the extra point sotal in one year, Saunders broke the record of Joe Esameili who had 41 of 48 in 2005, so his 43 this year is the new school record. as indicated
