Football toughness vs athleticism

Post by pappy1 »

Some years back I started a thread on this topic. There is no argument from anyone that both in an athlete is the ideal circumstance. After OSU's national championship with a third team quarterback I think its time to revisit this issue.

Braxton Miller is undoubtedly the OSU QB with the most athleticism over the last several years. Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett and Kenny Guiton led the team very well in his absence, some would argue even better. In Guiton's senior season (after he had very competently led the team to victory) Miller was left in with injuries that were limiting him. There were many people who wondered about that decision.

Miller won the conference MVP awards for the last two years he played. Meyer is at the top of the food chain in college football coaching. But I still wonder if OSU's record for the past three years would have been even better if Miller played another position or sat and a less athletic player had taken his place.
