Yep, Gallia Academy leads the series 49-43-7 powered by a nine game winning streak from 1999-2006 (including a playoff win in 1999). Jackson has rebounded to win 7 of the last 9 in the series though.

I believe this was originally supposed to be at least a two year deal, but not sure.

If the series is renewed bast 2019 I hope Jackson gets on the phone with Logan.

Memorial Field has been a house of horrors at time for the Ironmen - still think Gallipolis might be a year away from really pushing the Ironmen to the limit.

Jackson comes in the heavy favorite but strange things have been known to happen in this great series... I remember one year Jackson came in undefeated and the blue was having a down year, suddenly the unseen powers of memorial field kicked in and the blue pulled off one of the greatest upsets in school history.... this being our first home game of the year I look for the blue to be fired up and giving it there best.... wish jottings was still around to give us a complete history of this great series...
Is jottings just not on here anymore?

Jottings did a fabulous job following the gahs sports scene for years. I can't speak for jottings but I would guess for some reason in his life it just became to difficult for him to continue. I believe we can all understand that... it just points out how important it is for a school to have someone like jottings following the sports pragrams... his input is surely missed.....

I think this statement is true of everyone on there schedule. They will get some of them this year. Next year. They will be really really tough.

I just want to know where all the blue Devils posters went that said this team would be horrible for a long time with no talent.

No one has really discussed it yet. But is this the week the Blue Devils get there passing game started. It has been non existent so far. But there is several reasons behind it.

But I hope they get it back in gear. I think the QB being on the shelf all summer really hurt. He has only been clear to throw like 4 weeks now. I think if they can get that going a little bit. Keep teams playing honest. They will be very tough as year goes on.

Hey 83, back in the day the jackson/blue devil match up use to be the game of the week on this forum. We would be on the 10th page by Sunday and over 20 pages on Friday. . Then the following week we would still be debating the outcome. Those were the good old days.. now there is not enough posters to get a good argument going....lol....

For a pretty long time I'd rather lose to Wellston than Gallia Academy. It was definitely a bitter rivalry. The kids playing this game Friday know nothing of it.

Well the Blue Devils. Have a few tricks up there sleeve that the Jackson faithful may not be ready for.

First being a week 3 game not week 10. And memorial field has not been flooded but once in about 4 years. So we have actually grown some grass to surprise the iron men. But don't worry under the guidelines of doing maintenance we created a couple of little crop circles and made a couple of dirt spots to sneak up on you and hopefully have open runners tripped.

Also do to the weather being better. We have made the air not have that great visitors side sewer smell. I am not sure Jackson will know what to do on this condition.

Lol, well Memorial Field is definitely not going to be the same as a Week 10 game with no grass on the field between the 20's, right after a flood, with that muddy smell that is in the air.

Gallia sure seems to have made a quick turn around program wise, appears to be a lot of enthusiasm and that is good stuff.

Ironmen will be ready and I look forward to coming down in Week 3 to a grassy field and no odors lol.

I do believe there is a good deal of enthusiasm floating around Gallipolis, however, I think the biggest changes that have happened to this point is a mere perception of a program. Maybe that is the first step. I honestly can't say with any confidence that the team itself is all that much better this year. Don't get me wrong, they have improved, but in my opinion, the improvement that people have seen is simply a bunch of sophomores that started last year and now are juniors. As kids get experience, obviously you will see some improvements. In my opinion, the biggest thing Coach Penrod has brought to the table is getting some fresh support within the community. I am sure others will disagree, but I believe if Coach Riffe is still the head coach, the Devils would still be sitting 1-1 at this point.

As others have said, give this team another year.

Completely and utterly disagree, but that's ok. I just believe the schemes and execution are much much better.
