Whose idea was that? That has been a standing award since 1944. Can't let outsiders run the show. I thought last year was a joke when they let the entire team be the MVPs.

Used to be we had 200 attend the annual "200 Club" banquet at the end of the season. Ths past Saturday, 32 people showed up. Don't think any of the coaches were on hand. Were they even invited?

Someone should check with the GAHS Athletic Board and find out who suggested to do away with MVPs. I know soccer, volleyball, golf and cross country were started a lot later. Football MVPs was started in 1944 (during World War II) to keep interest up in sports, then the old Downtown Coaches Club (now GAHS Athletic Boosters) added blocking and tackling trophies, best offensive and defensive players and most outstanding sophomore along with the Jantzen Golden Helmet awards.

No matter who was picked for the honors, we've always had upset individuals. Part of the game.

This year, GAHS had three, maybe four who should have shared the honor--Wade Jarrell, Logan Allison, Reid Eastman and had he not been injured most of the year, Ty Warnimont. That's four of Gallia Academy's best football players in many years and officials ignored them all. Unbelieveable.

Note the number of football players who have been named MVPs that were later named into the school's Hall of Fame. Will they be stopping this in the future?

They gave out game mvp's No season mvp. New coach new ideas I guess. Game mvps went to seniors, each one got one, so not sure how much went in to that. Its always nice to have a tradition of a mvp of the season. Regardless of who gets mad or wished there kid deserved it more. Sometimes even 2 can be deserving. Todays society doesn't like to leave anyone out of a trophy, or maybe they didn't think anyone deserved it since they weren't 10-0 or 9-1. Not sure I could pick one myself, but I could agree that wade, reid and logan all had a good season. a few unders had a decent season as well but not sure worthy of an mvp. the line always gets left out of the mvp stuff. just my 2.
