Phil Davis Field at Chesapeake

Post by Bear »

Tonight Chesapeake will dedicate and name the field after Hall Of Fame Coach Phil Davis. There is a nice new sign that was just placed underneath the score board.

That'll be the last time I use my phone to post something.

And the sign is probably under the scoreboard (not school board).

Nonetheless, a great gesture by Chesapeake.

Nice stadium. Too bad the stadium has so few seats for the fans. I guess they don't expect large crowds even with the new make-up of the OVC.

I go to church with Davis' son Scott and his family.
This is an outstanding gesture by the Chesapeake BOE.
Coach Davis is, in my mind, right up there with with people like Jim Mayo and Bob Lutz, who are coaches that were more than just coaches, and really took the time to mentor the young men that played for them.

I hope the Panthers get the win during the dedication.
