Week 1: Meigs at Coal Grove

Post by Pocket Aces »

Hornets coming off of a solid effort in the Jamboree game vs IHS, can't be satisfied with that though as Meigs will no doubt be wanting revenge from last year's home loss. Go Hornets!

Hey brother it looked like the hornets could use some conditioning! I hope they win but if they let the game be close late I can't see them being able. Rooting for our Lawrence co teams!!

Coal Grove should win this one if they don't turn the ball over and keep the meigs runners from making big plays good luck Hornets bring home that win.

Meigs has been impressive offensively this pre-season. They looked like world beaters against Eastern and Portsmouth Notre Dame (I realize they are both D7). They were out matched vs Gallia Academy but still made some plays and moved the ball (Scoring 2 touchdowns).

I think Sheets and Davis will put up big numbers no matter who they play (including Coal Grove). I’m not saying they will win but they will score some points.

Maybe another 44-42 track meet in Coal Grove like in 2009???

Meigs will put a much stronger, healthier, and more experienced team on the field Friday night when compared to last year's team that played Coal Grove very tough. There will be plenty athletes on both teams. Execution, turnovers, and conditioning will decide this game.

I agree turn overs will be a key but if Coal Grove plays hard and keeps turn overs down they will win.
But the key will be turn overs

This game was closer last year than most expected. I see the same thing this year. CG should win, but I think Meigs can keep it close.

Meigs wins 46-44 in a nail biter of a game. Coal grove had the ball with about 1:37 left and Meigs D stepped up and stuffed them and was able to take knees to finish the game. Micheal Davis of Meigs had around 343 all-purpose yards!!! The kids showed great heart and this game was won/lost in the end of the third and the fourth quarter.
