McCurdy is a solid coach and will get the ''D'' straightened out........cause giving up 37 points a game is just unacceptable...no matter what school you play with......so who do you guys think is going to have a big year for the Chiefs......Jack Music is back at QB.....who is going to be the TB?

Here's a position by position look at potential personnel:

Quarterback:
Jack Music (5-10, 180, Sr) - started 9 games in 2012, passed for 765 yards and 9 touchdowns but also threw 9 interceptions. Rushed for 3 Touchdowns and had positive rushing yards despite a number of sacks taken. Started 7 games as a sophomore in 2011.

Caleb Lewellen (6-0, 155, Jr) - Started at Portsmouth last year but has not thrown a Varsity pass. Good size.

Lane Little (5-6, 115, Soph) - Led freshman team to a 6-1 record last season.

Running Back:
Isaac Schmeltzer (5-9, 165, Sr) - Missed several games due to injury last fall, but when healthy started at either fullback or tailback. Rushed for 562 yards and a team high 6 touchdowns. Also caugh 9 passes for 66 yards and another touchdown. Based on experience most likely to start at tailback in 2013.

Nick Kost (5-8, 160, Sr) - Replaced Schmeltzer at fullback after the his injury. Rushed for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns. Based on experience most likely to start at fullback in 2013.

Cole Baron (5-10, 170, Soph) - Played some Varsity last year as a freshman, but only as a placekicker. One of the top running backs on the freshman team last season.

Austin Scarberry (5-7, 165, Sr) - Unlikely to start but could be a viable option as the power back, solid back up at fullback.

Bryce McBride (5-7, 165, Soph) - McBride started several games and lettered as a freshman last year. Has the size, speed, and ability to play at either tailback or fullback.

Wide Receiver:
Nick Maniskas (5-10, 155, Sr) - Led the team with 17 catches for 199 yards but did not have a touchdown catch last year. Rushed 6 times for 59 yards and a touchdown. Will enter this season as the top receiver.

Chance Cox (5-10, 130, Jr) - Came on during the second half of the season last year catching 10 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Evan DeLong (6-4, 180, Sr) - Saw a good amount of snaps last season. Good size. Could be a candidate to move to tight end.

Joe Foltz (6-0, 150, Jr) - Had potential to see time on either side of the ball last year. Never quite broke through. Could see him move up from the JVs this fall.

Isaiah Smith (6-0, 140, Soph) - One of the top receivers on the freshman team last year. Has the size that could lead to opportunities.

Kevin Boals (5-10, 140, Soph) - Saw time on special teams with the Varsity as a freshman last season.

Dominic Micochero (5-10, 155, Soph) - Was a top target as a tight end with the freshmen last season. May lack the size to play as a tight end with the Varsity this fall.

Tight End:
Dean Jordan (5-10, 165, Jr) - Converted to TE from RB last year and played almost every week. Caught 5 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Evan DeLong (See above)

DJ Madison (5-11, 175, Jr) - Was a solid contributor with the JV last season. May be ready to step up as the 2nd tight end in 2013.

Dominic Micochero (See above)

Offensive Line:
Reggie Wesselhoeft (6-4, 290, Sr) - When healthy he started every week at right tackle. When he played well he could be dominant. Needs to be more consistent in 2013.

Brock Emerson (5-9, 225, Sr) - Started every week at guard. Was very physical and stood out. Has the potential to be an All-SEOAL player.

Caleb Myers (5-11, 190, Sr) - Reliable and steady player. Started every week last year. Another piece of what should be a very good offensive line.

Caleb Branson (6-2, 220, Sr) - Started as a tackle in 2011 and as a guard in 2012. When motivated and focused could be the best lineman on the team. Finding consistency is key.

Charles Paulson (6-3, 250, Sr) - Started a few games for injured starters. Has the size to be a great player.

Jesse Needs (5-9, 190, Sr) - Versatile lineman. Can play anywhere. Solid back-up last season.

Jacob Young (5-7, 230, Jr) - Was the longsnapper last year.

Chase Walter (6-4, 205, Soph) - Played guard with the freshman team last year. Could be versatile enough to play guard or tackle.

Brandon Skinner (6-1, 295, Soph) - Played tackle with the freshman team last year. Great size.

Zack Buckley (6-0, 275, Soph) - Played on the line with the freshman team last year. Great size.

If Coach Burke and his staff can win 5 games in his 1st year, he should be coach of the year! Work hard and long all the way to the end! No vacations for winners!

I agree Bird! The league championships are getting less relevant every year it seems the way these teams keep bolting, but in football its about he only thing the coaches can use as motivation if the playoffs are out of sight after a rough start.

If they can't get any more teams than 5.....they need to serious consider joinin the MSL.....MAKES SENSE....CLOSER TRAVEL FOR BOTH THE FANS AND THE PLAYERS........plus would be playing teams their own size.....makes for more points come playoff time........ 8) :!:

You are a wise Bird! Let's write the Admin and Supt and starting voicing our opinions. Let's push for MSL!

Logan made a push for the MSL a couple of years ago and MSL voted against adding Logan. Most schools are glad to be rid of Canal Winchester because they thought they were too big. With Canal out, I can't see the MSL accepting Logan.

Would love for it to happen, but I don't think Logan's the problem in making it happen.

Yes Locos, I do recall the push to get into the MLS, But I hope they keep trying! I am very concerned with the condition of the SEOAL, my opinion is within 5-7 years there will not be an SEOAL! Being an without a league is almost impossible to schedule games! Ask Ironton!

 The MVL doesn't want Logan!!
Logan wouldn't try to cut and run would they??

It was all the Logan and Jackson fans saying they would never "cut and run"..........Both schools have tried and failed to get into other leagues...hmmmm.......

If this is true, I can actually see some of the reasoning behind it. Proctorville is growing very rapidly with it's convenience and close proximity to Huntington. New homes are popping up all over that town. It is literally turning into an affluent suburb of Huntington. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Fairland's enrollment is as large or larger than Gallia and Jackson in the next 3 to 5 years. Proctorville is the only town on the river experiencing any real growth, and Fairland is quickly outgrowing the OVC. However, I would still be very surprised if they ever left the OVC for the travel in the SEOAL. It's an all Lawrence County league with close games and huge rivalries. Not to mention a trip to Proctorville would be worse than a trip to Ironton for everyone in the SEOAL except Gallia.

Looking forward to a much better season. Maybe 6-4 or better if the athletes come out.
