I've followed ironton since 1973 and even in their heyday they never started the season with a bang most years. In the last ten year battles with the burg they are 6-4 in the regular season and only once handled the pirates once in 2011 42-13. 5 games were within 5 points. To me wheelersburg lately is the more aggressive team and come out the gate quickly. The term "better get ironton early" hasn't been the same since coach lutz retired, which isn't an excuse either. I think wheelerburg has integrated a West coast offense that ironton has had trouble with. I as a fan do hope that the game is close and both teams come out of it injury free. Because of league play it's impossible, but wish their game was week 10.
