Go look at West Jeff. Their schedule is awful. They only played 2 teams with a winning record. Mostly D 6&7. BG6 is big on them too. I don’t see them as a threat at all.
And im not saying they beat burg heck they might not even get past bethel-tate. But their program is use to winning and being in the spotlight and that gos along way
I agree that West Jeff has a pedigree of winning. The difference this year is they're playing in a new conference that is significantly easier than the MSL.

West Jeff left the Mid State League for the Ohio Heritage Conference. Its a bunch of smaller schools with Mechanicsburg as the only decent football power. When West Jeff left the Mid State League, the MSL looked for a replacement and are in a trial period for tentatively adding Bishop Ready in 2019 as a full time member.

I think the Regional Schedule that Burg might have to face is a very good thing if their goal is to win a state championship. Playing Ready in week 11 is much better than playing the true 8 seed -- Oak Hill. They will be ready for week 14 if they get through Ready and Academy and Johnstown. Very few teams go into the playoffs thinking about winning 5 and the fact it's actually feasible. They might say that's their goal but deep down most know winning 5 is a stretch. Burg has that shot. And this schedule should keep them sharpened and accountable.

I can not believe wheelersburg dropped to 3rd in the ap especially, after beating a 9 win west team who was also highly ranked in the same poll. The 1 seed beat a 6-4 team with 2 south range beating a d5 sharpsville who is 5-5 with one win from a school with a winning record lol

With burg and south range tied at 2nd last week the largest factors to determine who gets the edge in the final vote seems like it would obviously be strength of final opponent and if you beat said opponent. South range ended with 200 points with burg ending with 172. That's a 28 point difference with burg crushing their final high ranked opponent.

Spectrum Sports review of the 28 regions Sunday evening (ch 309) more or less picked Johnstown or Columbus Academy to win R19. One of the three commentators said how good Burg looked on their game of the week but the other two downplayed that. They said that Wheelersburg was 1/4 in regional finals of late and tended to "not show-up in the finals". For D5, They were really high on South Range and Eastwood with a mention to CHCA and said that "can never rule out the MAC representative".

looking at schedules in this region we all really haven’t played strong schedules it all depends on who is ready to play

Spectrum sports is garbage anyway.. they have no respect for any school that isn't d1.. so their opinion is irrelevant. If you go back a watch their check ins from last Friday, they dog smaller division schools. For example. Harvest prep a d7 school probably has the best running back in the state. And they. Basically dog the kid because he plays at a d7 school... no need for all of that. Oh well. Burg will show up every week and ball out as will every other team!! Screw spectrum sports..

Drew Pasteur lists the relative Strength of Schedule ("SOS")by team in their division by some kind of calculation. For what it's worth, here are the play-off schools for R19 and their SOS rank in DV:
Wheelersburg #20
Ports. West #39
Johnstown #6
Cols. Acad. #40
Union Local #76
Oak Hill #96
Martins Ferry #57
Bishop Ready #32
Just for perspective-
Pemberville #25
Marion Pleasant #16
South Range #14
Manchester #26
Anna #2
West Jeff #94
CHCA #74
