9 Team Conferences

Post by mattash »

TVC-Hocking seems to do really good with its 9 team conference schedule. 2 or 3 teams every year. Would like to see the SOC1 do the same.

One of biggest flaws in the harbin system. Teams from bigger conferences have an advantage.

As long as they don't have a travel problem.

The key is to schedule two non-conference games you can win. Most years the TVC-Hocking has had three teams in the playoffs and a couple of years two teams would of made it four if they had won one more game. I believe this year there is only two teams from the TVC-Hocking in the playoffs.

Are there several working on setting this up for the SOC I?

Muskingum Valley League - 9 team conference
2017 - 3 teams

Yes non-league wins are a key.

The obvious choices are:

South Gallia - Cutting them reduces travel time for everyone.

or

Wahama - They arent even an Ohio school for cryin out loud.

Thoughts?
South Gallia to the SOC would help both conferences and South Gallia.

I still think moving Trimble up solves a lot of problems

It helps to schedule strong teams out of conference, and to schedule up 1 or 2 divisions. The 10-team MAC plays 8 league games. They were a combined 16-4 out of conference. Two of the losses were to D4 playoff teams. Not sure how many playoff teams they beat. They have 6 teams in the playoffs- 10-0, 2 are 7-3, and 3 are 6-4.

Most of the time competition in our area doesn’t prepare you for the playoffs. I think smaller conferences with tougher ooc schedules work better.
