Re: WK1 Belpre @ Fort Frye
Conner is a really good athlete. Does multiple sports. Is unselfish. Plays team ball in all sports. The big question is what support does he have around him. The Alloway kid is one but I don't know of others.

Going be a really tough game for his first career start.TOESTUBBER01 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:32 pm Conner is a really good athlete. Does multiple sports. Is unselfish. Re: Fort Frye at Belpre
Belpre High School
Belpre went 4-6 last year and failed to make the playoffs, but in the offseason they hired well known Mid-Ohio Valley Mike DeVol to be their head coach and take over their program.
They are returning four starters from last years squad and have about 24 players on their roster.
Head coach Mike DeVol hopes the team can finish the season with a record of 6-4 or 7-3.
Scrimmage Schedule
August 11th vs. Williamstown
August 11th vs. Caldwell
August 17th, Warren Jamboree
First Game August 24th vs. Fort Frye
Coach DeVol says, "I've watched last years teams film about 20 times each, I've checked all the coaches, I've seen what they have coming back, I know what we are going to be like and I think we are going to be competitive with every team we play so I am very excited and happy with the kids that we've got. I think we are going to surprise some people. We have taken lineman and made backs out of them and we are just going to make it fun."

Watched Belpre scrimmage and they are so big.How much does that FB weigh 260? They are way bigger then the Cadets. Both teams running a similar offense. I think Cadets still have more speed and skill. Still going to be closer then some thought.
Re: Fort Frye at Belpre
Wherever he goes, kids seem to want to play for Coach Devol. You would think there is a big gap between these teams, but if he has Belpre ready, they can pin an early season upset on The Cadets.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 2:04 pm Watched Belpre scrimmage and they are so big.How much does that FB weigh 260? The team mentality is completely different. They seemed big and phyiscal. Caldwell did get 2 long pass TDs and that’s a team that struggles to pass the ball.efarns wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 7:13 pmWherever he goes, kids seem to want to play for Coach Devol. Re: WK1 2018 Fort Frye @ Belpre
Belpre strength is power run and the Cadets do a really good job stopping the run. What gives Fort the edge in this game is they are well more balanced Passing and Running.
Re: WK1 2018 Fort Frye @ Belpre
My final call:
I've seen Belpre. Not impressive in any way whatsoever.
Haven't seen Cadets on film, but know what they have, along with excellent staff.
Cadets by 21+ (conservatively)

Where are the Eagle posters? I saw that Belpre tied with Warren 7-7. Fort was up on Warren 43-0 last year have they got better

Re: WK1 2018 Fort Frye @ Belpre
I haven't seen Belpre scrimmage so I can't say how they looked or what their competition looked liked. I will say that the current coaches are more equipped to coach a team that isn't large in numbers and will maximize the talent that they have.
I will be rooting for the Eagles but the first part of our schedule is a grind. Fort Frye should go no worse than 9-1 with 10-0 a strong possibility. Trimble is looking at no worse than 8-2 and possibly 9-1. Both of them will be playing in week 11.
LETS GO EAGLES!!!

Speed vs strentgh
I think both teams will be gassed in 3rd but Fort should run away with it.

Should be good weather to play and watch high school football.
Good luck and good health to both teams Friday night and the entire season.
